Default Hot pipe !!

I have the oppertunity to get 316 stainless tube 2" and 90's for free all schedule 10. Will this be good hot pipe material or should i go with standard 2" 16g and pay for it.

I thought this would be better then 16g since it would retain heat better.

It would be just the crossover pipes that go to turbo flange. There 2" id so its pipe not tube.

I believe the ID of 2" schedule 10 is something like 2.160 or so. That is what Im using so I would be tickled if someone gave it to me.

What engine? What kind of power levels? From what I've read up to 900chp or so 2" is most likely fine. I'm at 2" now and thinking I should have went a hair larger for a 370" engine around 900whp.

Im looking for 700/800 rwhp i think. I want to be able to run low 10's high 9's in my s10.

6.0 iron block, stroke stroke.

Yes you are rite, the I.D. Is slightly larger then 2" but i did not get to measure it with a caliper yet.

I am mostly concerned with it holding up, this is going to be my first turbo and ls1.

From what i understand you want the manifolds and hot pipe to retain heat to keep velocity up. I thought this pipe would be better for that then 16G and it was free!! Took home 20' of pipe today and 6 elbows.

I was planning on ceramic coating manifolds and hot pipe then wrapping in dei titanium wrap. Will this cause problems on a street strip car? I dont want to be cracking stuff.

Wrapping is more likely to cause them to crack, than not wrapping.

Allow room for the pipes to expand and contract during use, and there will be far less chance of cracking
