Default 71 Nova TT 6.0

Thought I would post this up. 71 Nova twin s366 cast wheel.
Engine: 03 lq4 block unbored, wiseco pistons, lunati h beams
stock crank, ported 862 heads, LJMS stage 4 turbo cam.
Powerglide, 9" rear, leaf springs etc. Big garret A/A IC.
Holley HP efi. Everything done by me in the garage.

93 pump gas, 20gph meth nozzle turning on @14psi
Still getting a handle on everything.

This was on 20.3psi for most of the run. Launch 4200@5psi

Love it! Very stealthy and hauls the mail!
I'd say lots more in in it for sure.
Nice job!

Very cool setup! Should be crazy fast once you get it dialed in. Seems a little lazy for 20lbs? I had issues with the water/meth blowing out spark with .020 gap on LS1 coils. Picked up 3 mph turning it off. (not suggesting you do that)

What do you have ignition setup wise? Plug gap?
.91 or .88AR?
Have a chance to weigh it yet?

Thanks Ron.

Force, Haven't had a chance to weigh it yet. It's mild steel cage, full interior &
0 fiberglass. I assume it's going to be around 3500. I'm using the d581 truck coils.
Plugs at .018, Fuel is still on the rich side & can still bump timing a little up top.
Datalog shows fuel pressure was acting up on this pass & 6.5 seconds in it boost
dropped to 17. Still working out the bugs & trying to creep up on the pump gas tune.
Earlier in the day we picked up 2mph w/1* timing then 4mph w/2*. Line on the plug strap is about 1/3 to the bend.

Those are what I was running, the small square ones. Forgot I sold the LS1 coils.

Just installed the D-585’s on mine hope to test it this weekend with the alky back on. Was told they put out 3x the amperage as the square coils. May be worth a shot down the road. I always had issues with big nozzles and lighting off mixtures with any water in them.

Good luck man, that things awesome!

Thanks Force. I've been following your RX7 for a long time. Turbo's are .91AR.
This was the first trip to the track with the 6.0. I was just using pure Meth.
IAT's were only 103* at the end of the 1/4, so I may drop back to 15-16psi
& see how it acts without it. Then creep back up from there. This engine is only
8.5-1. Hoping it can get away with a little more boost on 93 alone.

$100 header kit.

They are part of the tube radiator support I had to make to get the
intercooler to fit.

It also holds the bumper on. This pic was the first incarnation with sbc &
twin 76's that I had a bunch of problems with.

Never had any issues with straight meth, I'm sure you're fine ign wise the way it sits. All the low comp stuff I've build needed quite a bit more timing until you start making big boost. Keep us updated! I wish I went with twins daily...

Damn that is great fab work! Hell I just hung my turbos off the manifolds and called it a day.

I'm running 24* at idle & 30* until about 2psi. I figured it would be sluggish
until it came into boost but it's not bad. Transition is pretty fast, especially
compared to my 5.3 with these turbos. I wish I would've went single every time I have to work on it. Now I'm thinking of adding PS & AC=Family car!!!

Thanks, I got wrapped up in header crack horror stories. They probably
would have been just fine without them. Hell I could hook to these headers &
lift the engine out!

Thanks, The Holley is definitely an amazing system!! Only problem
I've had is with brick style map sensor. After switching to the GM
12592525 no more problems!!

What happened with the MAP sensors?
Would love to see a data log if that would be ok.

Cool project-you have the same intake setup I have, 90 deg
adapter, Edel. TB, etc-I have always had a minor off idle hesitation,
using the Holley HP I have never been able to get rid of it-I tried
rem. the learn until later RPM's, man. tune it off idle-the accel. enrich.
doesn't seem to affect it.
Curious if you noticed any of that-seemed to work better before they
ever did that V2 upgrade
