Cool, thank you. Excited to see an apples to apples comparison of the 2.

Me too with this turbo it seems like it is a little harder to get it to 60ft. Doing the roll racing you can fell the turbo lag. Just hope it makes up for it on the big end of the track dose make more power at the same boost as the old turbo

Does you car still weigh 3700 with you in it? Is the 370 still in there doing all this?

If you already have a TH400 and want overdrive why not just go 4L80E? My buddy had the ProMod Gear vendors behind his 68 TT LSX376 Camaro with a Glide and he already had to have it rebuilt once within a year. The company told him he ran the wrong fluid in it and wouldn't warranty it, but he ran exactly what they told him to run. Never shifted it racing, just cruising.

The 4l80 will not hold up to what i want to do with it full throttle in overdrive for the standing half mile. Plus when i talked to a couple different converter places the cant get them as good as a th400 converter.

Ah ok. I guess Gear Vendors is the way to go then. A lot of Drag Week cars seem to use them.

I have been thinking of putting a 6 speed back in it if i blow up the th400. But a gear vendors might be the way to go

For all that is good, keep the 400. Car will run faster, and more reliably. All while being cheaper.

Yes the car will be faster in the 1/4mile with the th400. I drive it on the street alot any more it would be nice to have that overdrive. I think the car will be faster in roll racing and half mile events. I have so many 1/4 mile passes with the car now it makes it fun to change it up sometimes. Plus i dont think i want to put a 25.5 cage

Then why not do a 4L80e, which seem to be proven to hold power, and use 4th purely as that OD ?

ie, gear so any racing will always be 1,2,3 ?

6L80e only seems to be rated for up to around 1k and must use the relevant ecu for control, as there are no aftermarket controllers.

If i do a half mile event i will need the overdrive to hold up at full throttle. A 4l80 will not hold the flywheel power that my car makes. Plus they can not get a 4l80 converter as good as a th400. There is NO way a 6l80e will hold up

The Black4th Gen in the other thread guy ran over 250mph in 1/2 with a PG....so surely a 4l80e running in 3rd can cover any top speed you might hope to achieve in a 1/2 ? And use 4th for cruising as I said.

Must have like a 2.73 rear gear. I would rather put a gear venders in it than swap gears for 1/4 to 1/2 mile

I think he swapped down to a 3.08 or 3.27 to achieve that.

Not sure if he swapped back, but his runs 7's. Would probably run same or very close with either ratio though so really little need to change gears, especially if you had a 3 speed vs the PG's 2 gears?

Of course everyone knows that....which is why a 3 speed gives you more versatility vs a PG at the low end, so run a taller diff for bigger speeds at the high end.
