If you already have a TH400 and want overdrive why not just go 4L80E? My buddy had the ProMod Gear vendors behind his 68 TT LSX376 Camaro with a Glide and he already had to have it rebuilt once within a year. The company told him he ran the wrong fluid in it and wouldn't warranty it, but he ran exactly what they told him to run. Never shifted it racing, just cruising.

Then why not do a 4L80e, which seem to be proven to hold power, and use 4th purely as that OD ?
ie, gear so any racing will always be 1,2,3 ?
6L80e only seems to be rated for up to around 1k and must use the relevant ecu for control, as there are no aftermarket controllers.

Not sure if he swapped back, but his runs 7's. Would probably run same or very close with either ratio though so really little need to change gears, especially if you had a 3 speed vs the PG's 2 gears?
