How much of a difference did these make in sound? I want a very low key exhaust. It's not easy to do with 4" pipe.

Me too, I've never used one. I said "IF" I remade my down pipe I'd do it with these.

oscs i see you around and appreciate alot of your responses.

Just a suggestion. If budget permits and minimal noise level is necessary, I would run an oval pipe OEM exhaust/muffler with an electric cut-out that either dumps open or to another section of oval pipe through a "high performance" muffler.

There are quite a few advantages to this. minus cost and space of course. If cost was no objective, the material would be titanium or similar right? But nobody has unlimited funds.

So practical is, both 2" plumbing. The combined flow of an OEM system and a high performance 2" system will feed feed 600rwhp of course so it meets all purpose and application protocol.

Check out Stainless Headers as well, they make a nice little muffler.

Thanks. I can say the same about yourself. Unfortunately the application here is a short run I'll try and get pictures to better show it.

I ended up using the stock tail section of my exhaust. The down pipe is 4" up to where my exhaust Y's. The 4" is ovaled to match the "Y" inlet diameter. One side of the "Y" had nothing there. What you see now is a cheapo 60mm wastegate. If all works out (light spring, poss electric solenoid, etc) it will open under boost. If it doesn't work the way I intend, an electric cutout won't be hard to install. I have no idea if this will work worth a damn with a 6.0/ S480 combo- only one way to find out!

No real need for a muffler IMO, it's just extra weight. I know it's a little unorthodox, but I run a 4" DP with a cutout. Then a tiny 2" kickout. Then I have a 1 7/8 90" on the end of the 2" pipe. (which made a huge difference) This is the most compact and light weight design I've seen. If you made it out of aluminum it would weigh practically nothing and it's quiet enough to talk on the cell phone with the dump closed. It has the mean "wide open" diesel exhaust whine with the cutout open. Best of both worlds, least amount of space and weight. Much quieter than one of the single chamber turbo mufflers.

Downsides:
Sounds a little "off" with dump closed, nothing like a kick *** race exhaust.
And you will have some fumes. Though with E85 I don't notice it much. The wife doesn't even complain and that's saying something!
