Default Small mufflers

What are you fender exit guys doing for "mufflers" if you are using them? I saw some spin tech oval mufflers but curious if there is anything cheaper out there.. Or maybe better.

Most setups I've seen don't have a muffler. I'm not going to run one either just straight pipe.

Yeah i know most guys dont run one but there must be a few guys running some small bullet style stuff. Id like to clean up the sound a bit. It likes to pop/crackle out of boost and it drives me nuts.

Vibrant makes some small "mufflers" not sure what size you're looking for, but here's 3": http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpe-1769/overview/

Vibrant makes them up to 5" and in a couple different lengths.

Not sure of your size constraints but i'd look into a bullet style resonator over a muffler. There generally shorter and slimmer, and will get rid of the catless crackle without robbing any sound quality.

Dynatech makes a cone insert, I think they call it "Vortex".

I plan to run Dynomax bullets

I put Dynamax 24250 behind each turbo. Helped a little but still way too loud for me.
My full exhaust has the Vibrant aluminum mufflers & they sound great.

Perfect. Now if they had these in an oval shape that would be awesome. Any idea if such a piece makes any real difference in sound quality/dB

I put them on a twin turbo setup I had and it made a slight difference in tone but not much quieter.

Actually, these were the ones I used: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-24250/overview/ They're Dynomax and a little cheaper than the Vibrant ones.

where did you mount them in relation to the turbo? did they help with the crackle?

I had fender exit exhaust right out the side of the fenders behind the front tires. I had the mufflers right behind the fender before it exited out the side. I didn't notice any crackle.

I like the "no neck" style. If I remade my down pipe I'd just use a couple of these inline... I've seen 6" and 8" as well. I can't find them on ebay at the moment.

If you want small and cheap look at schoenfeld mufflers. I can't vouch for how they sound as mine is not running yet but they were small( about 6" long), the size I needed and were only about 16-17 bucks a piece. I picked mine up at Day Motorsports because they are local but you should be able to find them online.

I used two 3in moroso spiral flows 2 to 3 feet after the turbos and dumped right after the front seats. I know most will say they are a huge restriction but honestly i couldnt notice a difference in spool or power and they reduced volume level drastically.
