Lol, it needed the aluminum wheels because I’m pretty sure the steel wheels would shear the studs off as we add power on launch. At least I chose old school style draglites that cover the disc brakes.
I just think the absurdity of black draglites with gold bead locks on a rusty 4 door would have people scratching their heads.

I’d rather run the car with the steel wheels and two lug nuts on each before running drag lites. Those wheels are hideous!! Haha. You can always play the “look at this dude that thinks he cool in his four door Nova with some race wheels” and whip their ***! I sold my car in ‘97 with drag stars on it and when I bought it back it had drag lites on it. Couldn’t get em off fast enough. Lol. Whatever you do will be cool.

I agree with the aluminum over steel wheels. I have a 15x12 on the back of my ltd that are Weld Draglites painted black. I can't afford (read that won't pay) what these fancy wheels cost these days. Don't get me wrong, they look great but I'd rather put the $$$ into something else on the car to go faster.

Ha! That’s exactly the reaction I’m looking for.

Totally agree. Other than the AC, everything is invested in the drivetrain and suspension.

Used the AC in Sweet Pea on the highway the other day. ECT stayed 195 and and AC was blowing ice cubes. Very happy with the under dash unit.

Looking at logs I found the oil pressure was dropping during the launch with the stock f body oil pan. Plan to get a moroso pan and pick up to fix this issue.

Add applied racing baffle to pan and run 6.5 quarts good to go.

Moroso oil pan and pickup installed. Going to the track tonight to see if it fixes my oil pressure drop during launch.

Oil pressure was fantastic, the moroso set up really works. Now if I can just figure out how to launch this thing on leaf springs and radials.
1.47 60’ was the best I could muster even though I was able to leave on more boost and rpm. I really need someone to video the launch.

Dual fuel pumps and check valves keep fuel flowing in the proper direction and maintain fuel pressure between starts.

Looked over some logs and compared my 1.42 60’ with 8psi launch at 3900rpm to my 1.47 60’ with 10psi launch at 4200rpm and found a hole in the timing map. There was a 6 degree difference in timing which is the only reason I can see netting a half tenth slower 60’ with more rpm and boost. I am also going to tighten up the suspension settings until I can get her leaving level without the wheelie.
I am open to suggestions from anybody with experience using radials with leaf springs.

A good slow-mo video would be great. Is it spinning or just not 60'ing like you want? If it's not spinning, I agree with tightening things up a little to keep the front end down. Up is wasted power. As soon as the tires leave the ground, you're at 100% weight on the back tires. So an inch up is plenty. The videos I've seen of your passes, the chassis was working nicely. Also didn't appear the rear suspension was squatting. Your in the ballpark!

Hopefully I can get some videos this weekend. Trying to get her lined out before heading to LSFest West.
Its not spinning so I know I have room to tighten the suspension. It’s just not 60ing despite more rpm and boost on the launch which is not what I would expect. That plus adding s little fuel and timing through the launch should get me where I want to be which is low 1.3 60’.

Here is video of the best 60’ I’ve had with Sweet Pea. It’s a 1.42 60’ leaving with 8psi at 3900rpm. There a little too much wheelie for my liking but it pretty much picks up the front wheels right at the hit. Front rebound is still pretty loose and rear setting are smack in the middle for the shocks. She has double adjustable Vikings so I can still tighten things up quite a bit.
I am open to critique.

No rear sway bar in the car? The right rear dips, which in turn lifts the left front. If you can get rid of the dip, I’d bet the wheelie would be just about gone.

No sway bar in it now but that was an option I was considering. It’ll be tight since I have the fuel lines and trans cooler mounted back there. I’ll start with adjusting the shocks I have and if I still get twist then I’ll look at a rear sway bar.

I have a low mount TRZ bar on mine that mounts under the axle. Might be an option if there isn't room above the axle?

Whatever they recommended. Spoke with someone at Viking who was very familiar with leaf spring set ups and they custom built a set of shocks for the rear.

Its not so much the space around the housing as it is real estate to mount the bar to the chassis.

That's the video I was watching. The angle is tough to see. I agree with 3window, slightly dropping the right rear. But just a little. Also can't tell how the front suspension settles on touching down. Looks good from that angle. My worthless opinion is, that launch is not costing you much ET. That car is working well. Some minor tweaks need made, but may need done again as you add power. Do you datalog driveshaft speed? It sure doesn't look like it's spinning, but that'd tell you.

I'll have to post a pic of the green 4 door Nova that drives past my shop everyday. Every time I see it, I think "Sweet Pea!". Amazing it hasn't dissolved from the road salts yet.
