I recently installed a Auto Meter machanical boost guage. If I floor it and run through the gears, it shows #5 boost in first gear; However, as soon as I shift the gauge drops to vacuum and never goes up again as I go through the other gears. It still pulls very strong. Pretty much any gear I can get boost, but as soon as I shift the boost drops to vacuum and stays there.
I tried rolling into the gears instead of flooring it and that seems to work.
One last thing, first and second gears are hard to get into boost. I don't see boost in those gears until about 4k to 5k RPMs. and at full throttle. However, in third, fourth, and fifth I can get into boost as low as about 3k RPMs.
Any ideas? Is this all signs of belt slipping?
