another pic of the ugly hotside
Used this T4 flange from ebay. Made everything alot easier, atleast in my opinion. I paid 40$ i believe.

My 85 GSL-SE (heaviest 1st gen) weighed 2,520lbs with LS1/T56,full interior (minus evap/heater core in dash), heavy steel dual exhaust, heavy wheels, stock glass, full tank of gas, power windows were still hooked up as well as power steering, No a/c compressor or lines in engine bay.
That put "race weight" at 2700lbs! It was a fun car. Can't imagine with a turbo!
Having the interior gutted probably won't help much - the panels and misc literally weigh next to nothing.
Either way it'll be plenty light with all that power.
What rear end are you using? My stock GSL-SE rear lasted less than a year on the street with a stock LS1.
I like the hoist thing you used at the junkyard. Never seen one like that here in Dallas at the pick n pulls. They have these big *** rolling cranes that have deflated tires hooked up to it. It makes it *LITERALLY* impossible to transport the motor from the vehicle in the back of the yard to the cashier, so you've got to improvise. That's the reason i don't pull motors there anymore even on half off days. Just too much freakin hassle.

I will be doing the 8.8 rear swap.
And yea i was happy to find that jack at the junkyard it made it a breeze to pull it!
And thx for the info.
At "2800lbs" race weight it should fly with the power.

FWIW I pulled the door crash bars today. About 12lbs each. Plus 1.5lbs or so with all the scrap I cut out of the outer skins to get to them. Horrible messy job. But 25.5lbs is quite a bit. I use an alum door skin as well, no idea how heavy the OEM door cover is. I can tell you I close the door with one finger now!
