LSA heads with rocker arms are about $900-1000shipped... plus machine work.

The power is in the heads..... the reliability is in the bottom end.
Interesting.

Thats quite cheap for that upgrade in the top end. I can do this no problem if its worth it.

My current LS1 heads only flow 304cfm@.650
LSA heads that flow 350cfm...big jump

What would you guess the RWHP increase might be.....all else remaining the same....just that head and intake swap...?

What TB....?

Quite nice.....

But if/when this current engine takes a ****....I'm going to have Race Engine Development throw some Darton sleeves into an LSX iron block....and be done with it.

I chose the LSA heads due to their increased rigidity and denser casting material. Also because at the time, it's the only cylinder head I could afford, but I was pleasantly surprised by their reliability and power that they made.

I personally weighed a LS3 head versus my LSA heads, and the LSA heads weighed 3 lbs. more per head. That's a big difference in casting density.

I'd go with the LSA heads honestly because they're cheap, they hold big power(in my case especially) and I never had an issue with pushing water.

I had mine CNC ported and got 370cfm@.700" lift. 270's@.700" lift on the exhaust.

Thats great, but the DART block alone costs what an assembled forged iron LS shortblock costs, so why even bring up the DART block

Assembled DART LS next short block $12-$15k vs $4,000.

Thats another reason why I would never buy one.

Plus, a sleeved LSX iron block is WAY stronger than that Dart block.

You can machine an iron LS block for a Darton sleeve wet/dry or just a dry repair sleeve. Question is why.

Re-Sleeved LSX block, that could be interesting.

Dart block is iron or aluminum.

Before I purchased this iron 390ci from AES I spoke to Steve Darmijian(sp) at Race Engine Development. I asked him whats the hands down strongest and most reliable block I can buy for boost.

He said to send him an LSX iron block and he will put his new Darton sleeves into it. He said iron cylinder walls supporting iron sleeves is the best you can get. He's done it many times. It pretty much makes an indestructible block.

It will be my next block if/when this iron block or its internals EXPLODE....lol

Didn't realize DART had an iron option. But like you mentioned, its a complete rip-off. Just buy any of the other iron blocks out there and use the savings to install the best bottom end parts money can buy....and still have left over cash.....

No offence, but why wouldn't you just ask the same experts about a cam recommendation then instead of all the cockery on a car forum? If you're spending your money on it anyways....let the people building your car earn their money!

And I have not seen anyone make 1300whp on a 484, even on a M6.

You realize the issue with high HP iron LS based OE motors is not the block..right? Its keeping the head down. Sleeving the block would yield zero gain for this issue.

My car was built in 1998, its done being built already.

And cockery.....go back and see what douche bag (HIPo) it was that started the "cockery". He always does.

AES built my engine to run N/A....not boosted. The cam is different in the 2 set-ups. Its been almost 3 years since AES built my N/A 390ci so how could they spec a cam for boost three years later without knowing anything about turbos to be used, heads it will have or compression...3 years later.?

I am asking the cam EXPERTS that specialize in spec'ing a cams for boost.....not building engines.

AND...I am talking to a couple people right now about this.

And I have not seen anyone make 1300whp on a 484, even on a M6.
Well then call JZ at Forced Inductions a liar.....hes the one that said it would.

All I did was ask which turbo will fit the Huron Speed that I bought and which will offer the most efficient power on my 390ci.

You gotta read better man........I said to sleeve an LS-X iron block. That block, if you did not know, has 6 bolts per cylinder. And again.....go tell Steve at RED he doesnt know what hes talking about, hes the one that said that that would be the strongest, most reliable block that can possibly be built for boost......

Now run along and don't worry about threads that you cannot contribute to. That only gets threads locked.......

JZ said he would use a 96mm turbine wheel in the S484. I believe 84mm compressor.

I guess we'll see what kind of power it makes.....

And im saying an S400 is gonna choke before you get there... and you'll need a Gt50 or gt52 garrett to make THAT kind of power through an 80.

Those T4....

I'm looking for the largest turbo that will fit the kit that I bought from Huron Speed. Its a T4 kit. I'm told the S484 is the largest that will fit and using the race cover I will have to stand up the radiator.

What do you think about T4-to-T6 adapters, I've seen those adapters on ebay.

Jose can make the GT50 and GT52's with a T4 flange, but the compressor cover will not clear the radiator using the Huron Speed kit.
