Rear mount turbo setup, how they work.
The oil supply can be ran to the back & then use a scavenge pump to run the oil back to the front. I've also seen self-contained oiling systems on rear-mounts.
I've been tempted to try it at some point, just to do it, but I like having my turbos up front. I know on the surface it's all "ooh it's sooo easy just to mount it back there..." But the reality is it adds more plumbing, parts & hassle, IMO.
I'm in the middle of building a single system for my Goat. It's going on the drivers side up front.
its a good way to get into it. takes work to get right but so does front mounted. got a rear mounted ls1 Ta and so far the only thing broken is a trans lol gotta get a new 3600 stall.
I'd like to see the set-up.
My take on it is you are doing less piping work, it's just up front.
Moving some things around to accommodate it just makes more sense for me rather than doing more plumbing.
But I agree, it's a good way to get your feet wet.
In this installation the flange was simply welded to the pipe and several of the stock type rubber hangers support it. No muffler, the turbo outlet goes straight to the tips which are supported the same way. It works fine.
Turbo choice is different due to the distance from the engine. Consult the turbo suppliers.
It is a bit laggy, prob due to the turbo chosen. But once on the pipe it hauls ***. Right at 700 WHP for this one. 17 psi
