Default ls2 block

picked up a ls2 block and crank yesterday and a nice set of 241 heads. and I'm thinking about doing a light weight engine for the nova. I'm thinking about a fresh stock gen 4 flat top shortblock with 317 heads and one of stock48's cams. and now that I have e85 2 miles away I think I will swap over this spring.

I did some searching but didn't see much for builds using a sbe ls2 for boost. not going to bee an all out build I still want just a 9 sec car at best as I only have a 6pt cage. but a nice clean all alloy engine and 80# off the front of the car wont hurt. thanks

Same drill brother, just a lightweight! Watch for cam sensor placement too, might be in the front cover. Is it a 24 or 58 tooth crank? Can micro run either?

it is a 24x crank. and I only need a crank sensor for micro. I'm not sure they ever got the 58x micro working.

I'm not going to do any changes right away just get my rear axle done in the next month or so and swap over to e85 and get it tuned and I should be in the 9s fairly easy. power wise I think I'm good the way it sits but id like to have a nice clean all alloy engine in there and get it looking better.

You've got a 9 second car there with no sweat! I agree, an aluminum block is eye candy and a nice weight reduction. I've got probably 3 good nights in the garage before I fire up. Gettin antsy! I'm looking forward to see how you do turned up a little. I want to see a 9 second slip for you as bad as you do.

I have a friend who made in the upper 900 range for quite a while. It was in a Z car like mine somewhere in the 3100lb range. It eventually ended up flexing and spitting out the main bearings.

Prob should open up the main clearance a touch.
I'm trying to figure this out myself in my L33 that's with my machinist.
Hard to get consensus on what works best though.....

I switched from an LQ4 to and LS2 for this year. Both stock bottom end.
Motor isn't in yet but I'm confident it will be much better than the LQ4.
I'm using ported LSA heads, main studs, head studs, 233/255 .634/.632 115 cam

I like the weight savings, higher compression, stronger rods, etc.

Assuming a race application Its due to the aluminum blocks tending to flex and move around. If you are using poly or rubber mounts it's not as bad but the best way to keep the block from twisting is some motor plates. This unsteadily the case with any of the LS blocks but more so with the aluminum blocks fro what I've seen.

Aside from stronger rods and weight drop why would you assume it would be so much better than the LQ4?

Over a point in compression increase, at the same boost level should yield a good power increase. In my particular setup, I'm also going from a 317 head (295cfm) on the LQ4 to a LSA head (360cfm) on the LS2. I'm more confident the LS2 rods will hold the added power than the gen 3 rods.
Mustangs are fairly light, but nose heavy. 80-90 lbs off the front should be very helpful.

I keep forgetting your running this in stock fashion. As far as weight goes. You want as much weight on the front end of those fox body as you can get from what I've seen. Those things are wheelie monsters.
