Default Cam selection on a turbo application

On a budget (of course), with my 6.0L project. Anyway, looking for the 650-700hp range. I was wondering if there is a cam that will help me get there more easily. I was looking at used factory cams, specifically a Z06 cam. I can also leave the original if it is not worth the effort for the swap. Any thoughts? The engine will be pretty stock otherwise, exception of the turbo stuff I install.

If you cant make 700hp with a standard cam, something is wrong.

If you dont want the hassle/expense of changing, dont worry about it, but yes there will be better more efficient options out there

I like OEM camshafts on mostly OEM LSx engines with DIY turbo kits (home made manifolds, high Exhaust gas pressures, seem to mate well with an early intake valve closing). The OEM bearing clearances are tight enough that you do not want to increase the RPM capability too much, especially at higher power levels with a mostly stock engine, better just to use the boost to get what you want and keep it simple. IMO Put the cam money into methanol injection.

700 is pretty much my target street hp# and so far I'm happy with the Z06 camshaft. 23" of vacuum, 650 idle, quiet valve train. I recommend it.

Thanks for the info. This will be my first LS swap, and my first turbo build, so I wanted some input from people that would know better than I do. Stock cam and money to put in somewhere else it is!
