I used the Summit trunn. upgrade on my rockers, and the bolt was so dam tight I had to burnish all of them to get them freed up-I wondered if I was actually getting proper torq or some binding in the rocker-I sup. there could be a problem if the rocker got hot, opened up a little and a bolt could back out if it didn't get proper torq-so far so good though

In what way was it bending when changing springs ? There should be virtually no load on the rockers when removing or installing them

And it certainly doesnt seem to be a common problem, if it was then yes you could probably say it isnt adequate.

I noticed the deflection just changing springs.

I used a lever-type spring compressor with a rocker bolt run down and when compressing the spring the bolt just bends backwards a darn good amount while I install the springs. Now, I fully realize there is tremendous mechanical advantage against that bolt when using a lever, but my BBC studs don't move when I use it lol! I would bet there's some deflection on that little (8mm?) bolt when its holding a rocker that trying to open 400lbs of spring pressure. It doesn't appear to be an issue at all as we really don't hear of any failures, but I think a beefier bolt would be better here. I've seen some excessive trunnion wear when using those aftermarket trunnion kits...could deflection have been a factor?

I don't think everybody is going to run out in their garage and drill out their heads and trunnions for a larger bolt so it's all pointless I guess.

I've had a similar experience on an old V8 before. The rocker would start making noise, then I would pull the VC and find it loose. Retight and go, then the same thing.

Turned out the camshaft lobe was in the process of getting wiped. So as I drove, the lobe would get smaller, allowing slack/clearance, and that would "help" it further loose the bolt.

What spring pressures are you running? Did you confirm no spring bind, piston/valve interference, rocker/retainer clearance etc etc.

There pac 1208x springs right around 500lbs open springs have plenty of coil bind clearance, had a great wipe on the valve when installed ,ptv there's plenty checked it multiple times. I've parked it found some metal shavings in the oil so I'm gonna pull the pan and inspect and order shaft mounts.
