Or, just retune your spring and bar package to use an iron block. The weight can be compensated for when tuning the suspension.
If I use an iron block would everything transfer right over? If they will I can pick up an LQ4 any day of the week from a local junkyard for $200 and I can build it back up in my garage so that would save a ton of money over having to replace any components beside the block

An iron six liter would do you just fine, and you could use your heads and cam and intake and accessories.

Awesome! what about the rotating assembly? I've got a 4.000" stroker crank, 6.125" rods and 3.904" pistons

You will need new pistons for the 4.00" bore on the LQx six liter block, but other than that everything else will bolt right up.

so the 4.000 crank won't be an issue?

The 4.00" crank will be perfect for a LQx block. It gives you ~402ci. Very strong and proven combination. Your heads and cam will work, but the cam may need to be revisited later. Someone like Martin Smallwood would be a good person to contact about that.

I know the cam will probably need changing for FI and that's expected. I'm having a tough time finding pistons for an LQ4 with a 4.000 stroke. any suggestions?

Jegs has Wiseco stroker pistons for ~$850.
926-K394X05 is 4.005" bore, 4.00" stroke, 6.125" rod, -8cc.
926-K464X3 is 4.030" bore, 4.00" stroke, 6.125" rod, -3cc.

Nobody has a 4.000 bore? I guess a heavy hone won't be too bad but still sucks lol

Oh, I don't know, that was literally the first thing Google took me to. Now that I know you want to avoid any overbore, I will do a more thorough search.

Check Summitracing, look at DSS forged pistons.

DMS-1920BSX-4000 is 4.00" bore, 4.00" stroke, 6.125" rod, +5cc. ~$450/8.

U Pull and Pay has any motor for $200 and since the LQ4 is so popular, there is almost always 3 or 4 in there

Any opinions on these pistons? I saw them last night as well but was a bit wary because of the price

People push 600+rwhp all day on stock pistons, I would imagine any forged slug would still have to be better... assuming they are consistent and correct in tolerance. For the price, you could buy them and have all eight of them cryo-treated for less than anything else I have seen. And everything else out there seems to require at least a minor overbore. Granted, I have not really searched outside of what Summit and Jegs offers, I am sure you could find a Wiseco piston for a 4.00" bore and 4.00" stroke directly from Wiseco, I just didn't check the manufacturers' websites, only the retailers.

what is cryo-treating and how does it improve pistons? I will take a look into wiseco as I hear nothing but good things from them

Cryogenic freezing is a metal treatment that chills metal parts to something silly like -300* and it causes the metal to shrink and then expand as it warms up to room temperature. It relieves the internal stress in the metal caused by the machining processes. It is considered a good way to improve the durability of metal parts.
