What type of oil pump on boosted 408

Default What type of oil pump on boosted 408

I am building a iron 408ci LS engine. It has 4" stroke forged crank with H series racing bearings. The Pistons are Wiseco with 32cc dish. I am planning on running 14lbs of boost through a 76mm turbo.

My question is what kind of oil pump to run. I see there are high volume standard pressure, high pressure standard volume, high pressure high volume and of course standard volume standard pressure.
This is a street engine to be used occasionally at the drag strip.

I have a Texas speed ported LS6 pump in my 383ci, also have H bearing. Makes 40 psi hot idle and 75 psi at 2,000 + rpms. No complaints here.

Running a Melling 10296 in my 408 without issues.

Same here. I put the bad mother ****** spring in it. It makes over 95 psi of oil pressure. I need it.

I have just used stock pumps, did a mild port in the direction of the oil flow,
and used a pop rivet washer as a spacer on the spring
I have always run a double row chain, and experienced front cover interference on an aftermarket pump, so I just stuck with stock stuff

Would a Chevrolet Performance high volume standard pressure Oil Pump 17801830 be a good choice?

I also had an an interference with the 10296 pump running a double chain. What is strange is that when assembling the motor, visually there seems to be plenty of room. I kept getting some aluminum shavings out of the oil filter after each oil change. I change the oil after every track outing. I never had pressure issues, bearing issues or thrust issues so I just kept running it. I did a tear down after about 35 passes and sure enough the chain was rubbing the pump housing. I just did a little clearance on the pump upon reassembly. We'll see if the issue goes away when I get it running again.

The filter was catching everything and the bearings looked great.

I thought I remember hearing someone made a front cover with more clearance, buts its been over 5 years ago, don't remember who
I do remember some guys were installing the D/S spacer on wrong and blocking part of the hole
