Is it worth it to upgrade to fast intake?

A buddy of mine fit a TBSS intake on his GTO. It hit the hood where the throttle body is, since the TBSS throttle angles upward slightly. He made it work somehow.

Here's a cracked fast from my friends turbo'd GTO on moderate boost. Fast manifolds are great for a NA build, but on a FI build they tend fail often. I've seen all sizes crack. I'd avoid the Wilson Manifolds due to fitment issues. Another to avoid is the typhoon/ pro comp they tend to leak under boost. Unless you have the bottom machined & drill more holes to secure the plate on. I'd rock another stock manifold. Or get a Vic Jr. with a Aarons elbow. That way it clears your cowl. A properly ported Vic Jr will match if not outperform a Fast.

The above pic looks metal ?? Or is it some sort of paint ?

Which FAST is it ?

I changed from carb intake to BBK, the steel bottom plate was crap so I made a new thicker 5mm aluminium plate instead. So far a few runs at 26psi and it has held up find. Also bonded it on with some Loctite flange sealant.

Fast 90. It cracked on the underside of the manifold.

Are the later fast models not supposed to be a lot stronger than an early 90 ?

Yeah they are. Unfortunately that not strong enough. I can't even count how many local guys have had problems with them on 2 hands. I'd have to start using my toes lol

I'm not claiming they're made of glass. But make sure you document proper installation & receipts if it was installed by a shop. If not you may find yourself up a creek without a paddle. If your willing to risk 800$ go for the fast. Remember plenty of people have made plenty of power on stock manifolds( ls1, truck, TBSS, Etc.)
