Pining the crank really neccesary?

Cutting a key way would be great but I'm not looking to pull or disassemble the motor. Pin kit to be purchased tomorrow!

I just pinned my balancer on my tahoe with an lsa swap. I spun the balancer with only 12lbs. It wasted my stock balancer. I put another one on that is pinned now...

I like how you say "only" 12lbs. I wish I could run that much. I'm hoping to get 8-10. So it wasted just your balancer and not your crank?

Hey guys question - Ive got an ATI super-damper, but I didnt do the side pins on the crank when i installed the hub.

Now that its in the car, can I still do the end-on crank pinning between the crankshaft and the hub? And if so, is there a specific pinning kit I need?

Most places seem to sell them for $75.

If you have a lathe etc yes you could make one yourself and save some money.....If.


Just google "ls1 crank pin kit", there are dozens of options.

This is the one I puchased on Ebay. Was like $95 bucks al said and done Should be here Thursday. Plan on pining and installing the Maggie this weekend. I feel like it was money well spent no. Thnaks everyone! I will keep you posted on the install. Just looking forward to pulling the radiator as it was pain and I mounted it top the core support before I installed the front end
