Default Callie's Dragon slayer crank......

Ok I've been researching this all weekend reading countless threads.... I'm doing a Forged 408, Wiseco -3cc pistons, Callie's compstar rods, Trick Flow 245 heads, Twin S369 SXE .88 A/R T4 turbos, compression will be 11:1 and fuel will be e85 along with air 2 Water intercooling. Now as far as the crankshaft goes.. how far have you guys pushed the Callie's compstar crank? IS it worth the extra 600 to splurge on a Dragon slayer. I know hear turbos and the setup alone is capable of making some big power. Just don't want to waste money where it isn't needed purely based on hype..

I called Callies because I have a compstar and asked that very question, What I was told is that it depends to much on tune and combination to give a definitive number but the rep I talked to said many people have made north of 1000hp with them with no problems. Once told them I am running a roots blower off the snout he said he recommended the Dragon Slayer or Magnum because of the extra force on the snout.
If you're going to spend the money for the Dragonslayer you might also look at the Magnum because it's only a couple hundred more.

I will end up getting the Magnum because it's not that much more added to the overall cost of my build.

Your going to lift the heads on a 4 bolt block before you destroy the crank. I wouldn't spend the money on the dragon slayer unless you had a 6 bolt motor

This right here. Unless you're going to put the extra pressure on the snout of the crank with an extra belt providing the fun, a compstar or stock crank will be perfect.

I wouldn't trust a compstar in that engine.

This. 11:1 on a 408 is going to have some very high cylinder pressures. Unless you run those VERY expensive custom aged ARP studs or open up the block for 1/2" studs, the heads will lift before you have to worry about anything else breaking.

Default Cylinder Pressure

OK, my concerns :

1. Main Caps, Powdered/Billet ?
2. Will you fit a 60-2(58x) TW ?
3. Will you fit strong coils ?
4. What is your Max RPM ?
5. What is your Max Boost ?

ALL these items effect head "lift" except the Billet Main requirement.
The RPM of the engine is related to HP which is what causes the head to lift.

The Tune Accuracy has the MOST effect, thus 58x/24xe requirement.

The chance for Detonation is the GREAT concern with a 10x pressure increase if present.
You have a good head material (356) with thick walls/deck.

I have tested many LS-x engines with our crankshaft/rod (Callies China Plant) at this power level and had success.

ALL of this is UNKNOWN without your "specified" Boost/RPM ?

I'm using a gen 3 LQ4 block, using MS3 pro for engine management. I'm looking to make 1200rwhp-1300rwhp. Stock main caps, is it necessary to have the mains ARP studded?

Makes no sense IMO to stuff all those good parts in a weak overbored and stroked stock block. Not enough meat between the cyls of a stock block to push 1300whp with any kind or reliability esp. on a 408.

Get a decent block to start with or run a factory bore and stroke/crank in a stock block.

That's lsx block territory but knowledgeable guys have done similar hp on a stock block with work. Stay with the stock stroke and plan to spin some decent rpm to make it live.
