I don't like to use any bent couplers, and would weld an aluminum bend to the intercooler plumbing to eliminate the bent couplers. Sometimes it makes installing the pipe inconvenient, and if so, I consider other possible ways of routing the pipes first, even if it means changing the style of the intercooler, flipping it or moving it, before resorting to bent couplers.
