Default Gas Tank Help

I bought the Squash dual fuel pump for a 99-202 Camaro which i have a 98 so i picked up a tank at the junk yard for a 99. I won't be using the factory fuel lines or wiring i'll be going 8 in and out and my question is what do i do with the crap on the rear of the tank? Thanks Bill
Do i take all this crap off and plug everything off?

You can remove the evap canister if you want to. I know when i did that switch, and i initially plugged all the holes up tight, I couldn't fill the tank faster than 1/4 gallon per minute at the gas station (yes, that REALLY sucked). Ideally you'll need to have a vent on there somewhere if your evap system's gone.

Thanks for the info! I was beginning to think i wasn't going to get one reply. There is a place on the pump to run the vent tube. Thanks

That is the evap system which manages fuel vapors and venting. I would keep it functional if it is a street car. Your '98 has that function in by the filler neck. You can remove that '98 system if your going to use the '99 evap system. If you plug everything off there will be no way for air to get in the tank to replace the fuel as it is consumed.

IMO a better option would have been to keep your 98 tank an to put dual pumps in it. Your fuel gauge will not read correct now. I'm not sure if someone has worked out a solution for that yet or not. The level senders are different, and the VCMs look for different calibrations from the units. I'm not sure which one is which, but on one the resistance goes up when the fuel level goes up, and the other the resistance goes down when the fuel level rises.

The round "thing" between the EVAP box and the fuel pump opening that leads to the EVAP box, I just ran a hose section off that down the side of the tank. I also left the existing hard plastic tube in place in the round "thing" next to the original "thing". I always meant to put a real low pressure check valve on the end of the vent hose, but never got around to it.

Hmm, I put mine in 10 years ago or more. I don't remember if i did anything beyond switching to a 99+ tank and sending unit but my fuel gauge always reads correctly.
I do wish I'd have kept my old tank though. It would have been a breeze to gut the pump and just weld a proper sump on it. The 99+ tank was good for a single
Racetronix back then, after that I wound up sumping the plastic tank to get more fuel anyway.

How did you end up sumping your tank!? Thanks!
