Default Intercooler pressure drop

Hey ive got a turbo 6 cyl that makes 430 rwhp on e85 and on the dyno the power falls on its face at 5000rpm where it should go to atleast 5600 so ive put a boost gauge on the comp housing and have one on the inlet side and the turbo is putting out 26 psi and the engine is seeing 21 22 psi. Ebay a2a. Obviously the a2a is causing a restriction would i benifit removing the a2a all together and maybe run a couple of meth nozzels?

The data I can share is from my 2jz. eBay a2a setup and I saw a 10psi pressure drop at 25psi, moved a quality ETS core, and pressure drop, dropped to 2psi at 27lbs. Cores similar size, eBay was 3 inches, ets is 4 inches

And the air temp differences are amazing

I currently have a 22 x 12 x 3 a2a but its mostly hidden behind the front bar and grill so only half the size of the cooler is getting full direct flow. Im thinking of removing it all together since being on e85 and running pre turbo meth inj. I could put a better a2a cooler in but being space limited im not sure whether that would be benifical to me.

Id atleast pull it and see if it helps ur issue. I bet youve got something else going on also

there is a reason why ebay intercoolers are so cheap. I bet if you get a quality core like a garrett or something similar you will have less issues. my last car I had a 2psi drop across a garrett core

I also went from 778whp to 809whp with just the intercooler change at the samwe boost pressure

With the eBay core I would start and finish the 1/4 around 150*, it was nice and linear

With the ETS core, I'll start at 100* and drop to 92ish on the hit and finish the 1/4 at 110*

Data was collected in Portland each on an 80* afternoon

I mean 4 psi drop isn't great, but it def isnt crazy either. I would probably be shitting my pants to know how much my old 31x12x4 china A2A was dropping. Going up 2 psi in boost only gained me 13whp. I guess I will find out once the new 2000hp A2W is in.

That $150 China A2A is on multiple 7 second cars. Maybe they would have gone faster with a Garrett, but they seem to do fine at over 1krwhp.

Hi i had a turbo v6 in my 63 chevyii and it would lay over at 5200. The valvesprings were weak and get worse as i turned up the boost. After i fixed with heavier springs the next scenerio occured:
What gear ratio and convertor do you have. My setup at 17psi boost and ptc 9.5 (set up tight) with 3.20 gears would just hang like that, but at 29psi which is what the convertor and gears were set up for would rev fine. Best if luck.
