Turbo 5.3 cam help
I can't find anything specific to answer my question so here it goes. Been at the turbo game for a couple years now and I'm in the precess of building a purpose built boosted drag motor. Still stock bore and stroke but anyways here is my question... I am currently running the stock truck cam and the stock lm7 heads and stock compression ratio which I think is around 10:1, I can't get any boost on the trans brake. The motor I'm building will be a stock bore and stroke but less compression ratio, 9:1 and a custome grind cam. I need to know if either a tick performance stage 2 or a custome grind cam will help lower spool rpm to the point I can get about 10lbs on the trans brake.
Some info on my current setup
5.3 lm7 gt45 ebay turbo full manual th350 with 2800 stall convertor 3.50 rear end gears on 31" full slicks. Trans brake stalls to 2800 rpm. And I don't see any boost untill 3000 rpm and full boost 15lbs at 3800 rpms at that point it's a rocket.
My new setup is,
The same short block 317 heads going with probly a tick performance stage 2 cam same turbo and 20lbs of boost.
