Stock block LC9’s and L33’s have also been in the 7’s... And that’s using the stock rotating assy, unlike the Ohio boys engines. By design Siamese bores are stronger. Whether or not a thick iron cylinder wall is as strong is the question I guess. I know the iron 6.0 block is nowhere near as strong as the L33/LC9
I picked my aluminum 5.3 block up by myself.... the LQ4 block I had to call a buddie over to help get it where I wanted it to be.

They say it’s an 80lb difference. On my scales an alum 5.3 was 107lbs bare. My iron 6.0 was 210

Feeling pretty good about my LC9 now, especially having forged internals... She's seen quite a bit of boost at this point and hasn't had an issue!

If you guys come across an LC9 short block or bare let me know. I don't want to have to buy a pull out.

Does anyone know of the newer iron block motors have the Siamese bores as well?

So where does the LH6 stand amongst the gen 4 blocks? For some reason I don't ever see anyone talk about them.

Just started running one myself at around 700rw.

Also, for whatever its worth, when you see the two blocks side by side (gen 3 iron vs gen 4 aluminum) the gen 4 looks much more beefy.

There is a guy on ebay from texas I think, that sells core shortblocks. 12571048 is the casting number he lists for the l33, and I type that into the search. Usually $395. He has none listed now, but I can find his user name if you would like. Its bding or something like that.

Oh, a lot of shops machine these blocks to ls1 bore size which is another .098....

I know the newer 6.0's don't. Stock48 ordered one new because he thought they were... turns out they aren't. My 4.8 isn't, so I doubt the 5.3 is either.

I happen to have a spare LC9 sitting here if you really want it...

Your I Houston right. You should be able to find a gen4 aluminum 5.3 no problem. I just picked up an lc9 long block for $50 that has a dod lifted tick. Delete dod and it's brand new again. Got to the Chevy dealer and ask for one of their cores that's where I get mine.

So what's the difference between these fancy aluminum blocks and my clapped out iron 5.3?

Shine a flash light down between the 2 cylinders... Theres a gap there for water. The Alum 5.3's are solid. Thats the typical place the 6.0's crack under big power.

Curious, what's your casting number on your block.
