I was wondering the same thing.

One controlled by vacuum to vent boost when you lift the throttle, and one controlled electronically for boost control at part- and full-throttle?

The YSi moves a lot of air at part throttle and the tial was added to keep the compressor surge down. I think maybe I could get away with just the tial. But it does not hurt to have the orig maxflow there too. The two will be tee'd off to the vac source and open/close under the same conditions.

When im at part throttle the bypass is wide open and yes with all the air its still moving its really whistling under the hood. Unless you wanted to limit boost under full throttle for a short time to prevent wheelspin im guessing the electronic version would work for that.

I love a red 5th gen.
sorry to hijack but do u ever have problems with your cluster acting up only after it's been running pretty long the tach doesn't want to act right and the starter is do slow I wonder if it will start back I added the hood thinking it would let the heat from the blower out but still does it I run 100 percent meth on all 3 of ours and love it but I'm thinking of ditching the magnacharger set up and doing either turbo or my favorite a big procharger. You can use a single valve to do this quite easily. I did with the big red for a while before I switched to turbos.

One big red is more than enough for a YSi.

Vortech's Mondo.....is not big enough even though there was no audible symptoms.

I ran a Mondo with the YSI and it did a fine job as far as size, although I changed it because its a horrible design and has an oring that keeps coming out of place.
Running a turbosmart big bubba now and that really works good.
The Big Red is also a good choice. 2 are not needed but cant hurt you either.

The Mondo is too small if you're actually spinning the YSi a decent speed.

You wont hear or feel any symptoms, but slight contact with the volute from the blade tips was a visible symptom.

When I fitted the big red this stopped

Although there were no o-rings in my Mondo, it was a poppet valve type arrangement much the same as the Big Red, just a lot smaller.
I'd also say the Modo was a lot louder on my car despite many people claiming the Big Red would be very loud

I don't doubt what your saying but totally different from mine and others experiences. Possibly yours wasn't a mondo but a smaller valve? The oring coming out of place is common with them as a google search will show.
I run my YSI pretty close to the max rated speed and never had an issue. Interestingly, my mondo was extremely quiet and that was the only thing I missed after changing it. Regardless, the point here is that 1 BOV is fine for a YSI, as long as its a larger one.

And to the op.................nice build.

Update: I got the car running and the tune at about 95% so I could ship the Camaro back to the US. I got a new job and after nearly 6 years in the UK have returned.

Camaro arrived back in the US safely. It is a beast on US roads again. Short blip of the throttle and you are going 120. Time to finish up the tune and get the meth kit fully installed and working.

Well some good news. Took her for a drive to run some logs for tuning to E85. With my current set up, I saw a max of 8.1 lbs of boost (7.8" crank, 3.6" blower pulleys). Did not see any knock retard. Intake temps at top of run to 4th were 29deg above ambient 62 deg. max injector DC was 55% and max delivered toque observed 680lbft.

Set up - Home ported LSA Heads, Pat G cam 224/240 .615/.615, AR 1 7/8 LT's MRBP 3" Cat back, YSI

Lining up parts for a new engine using an iron L96 block stroked to 409. Can't wait.
