It would likely light off a little sooner with a fully divided hotside, but if that's not a huge concern I wouldn't worry about it too much.
My s475 is divided, hotside isn't. works lovely.

The big difference is the with the open collector the divided housing acts like it's open A/R number and not the theoretical reduced divided number. Setups like these work great with quick spool valves

I ran a TC7868 w/ a divided 1.15 AR on an open T4 flange and had zero issues.
Still spooled like a light switch lol.

hey do you have any experience with spool valves?

doesn't look to hard to fab something up, just curious what kind of gains I could see and would it be worth the effort

thanks

Personally I don't. We talk about it amongst our local group, but the quick spool valve was a big topic a few years back on the 2jz board I was on. The Supra guys loved them

Truckdog.... SP Engineering made some for the 2JZ platforms that they catered to and I used to be a part of. Overall the Quick Spool Valve showed a decrease in "full boost" time and RPM due to the valve being actuated. I am sure if you look up SP Engineering and Quick Spool Valve there are some threads out there with data. Its been a few years since I looked into anything like that. I had one on my 2JZ setup but spent very little time with that setup before it was sold so I cant provide too much insight.

Default Divided Snail Valve

Hi I love the use of a Divided Housing.
My method, at times, is to "valve" one side with a butterfly.
The actuator is EMAP controlled by a simple turbo style wastegate.

The end result is a MUCH GREATER turbo spool.

The concept is that of a "dual size" hot side.

Pantera....guess you are making your own valve? I had been researching making my own a long while ago but dropped the idea once i got a solid deal on the one manufactured by SP.

I saw a video on YouTube like a year ago where they did back to back test without/with a quick spool valve. I wanna say just the valve and no tuning adjustment it was like 6-800rpm difference in spool. They said with tuning they could be around a 1000rpm sooner. That's pretty good imo,

thats fantastic! i might have to give it a shot on my next build. how is everyone controlling it, just a pressure diaphragm actuator? a dc stepper arduino set up would be nice ****
