The reason for my question was that if I could only make 800 to the tire on pump gas then I'm not going to mess with it. I'm going to buy the race gas and shoot for my 900 to 950. To be able to compete in the no prep true Street class I'm going to have to make 9 to 9:50 or more at the tires. I know on race gas my limiting factor for my max horsepower is going to be the rods and not the fuel. So I'll be safe running race gas. Because the race gas will allow me more power than the stock block can handle.
That's the smart plan. I've never regretted or had a buddy regret using race fuel for peace of mind when pushing the limit. It might be $90 you didn't have to spend....but it's cheap insurance.

people debate it but theoretically one of the reasons #7 is the one which often pops is because coolant flow to the back cylinders and #7 runs hottest. I went with fancy over priced kurt urban steam vent kit for this reason, if I ever get different injectors than my 80lbs I will put the one with the most flow on that cylinder.

I also throw some 100 octane in my car the few times been to 1/2 mile track.

Yea, we ran c16 in our top sportsman and top dragsters. Its s bit more than 90.00 lol. Im going with c14 for this truck which is about 15.00 per gallon in a 54 gallon drum. So close to 900.00. Per run isnt too much though.

I was just trying to see what is a reasonable safe hp with the pump gas. Thats all.

And i know the issues with water flows and hot spots. Same things happen in old motors. Again, im not afraid to say that I am still learning about the LS.

IAT, 50/50 and safe tune will dictate what hp you can without rattling it. Rods are no concern unless your tune is wrong around peak torque (high load doesn't help). I believe one of the most important results from a dyno session is what does the peak torque window look like and what rpm is it located at.

Go race gas or E-85 for your goals.

900 wheel is easily do-able on a 370 and that turbo shouldn't be an issue with pump gas. You'll have to be very careful with the tune, but its certainly possible. The biggest issue is that you're shooting for a chassis dyno goal with an automatic trans w/o lockup. Its very possible you hit any ET goal you need without the dyno numbers to back it up.
