D585 coil upgrade, now the car won't start, help please
Hello,
Last of the spring projects was upgrading coil packs, replacing the '98 coils on my car. I got 8 brand new AC Delco D585 coils, and an adapter harness.
I installed them, and tweaked the tune (more on that in a sec), and now the car rolls over but doesn't even seem to be trying to fire. I plugged in the old harness/coils and the car starts.
I've verified fuel, and spark (at least on cylinder 2, the old spark plug to the frame test).
I've also verified the wire positions and color codes match each position on all the plugs for the adapter harness.
In the tune, I cut/pasted the values of the "Base Dwell Time" and "Base Dwell Mult" and "Powerup Initial" from a stock truck tune.
Is there anything else I should be checking?
I've already bought the parts and don't want to give up on it, but it's nice weather and I'm ready to drive it lol.
Any tips or input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

try flipping the sub harness around one side at a time. they are very easy to flip the wrong way becuase the connectors will reach which would cause what you are experiencing. i know you say you checked the wire colors but still might be worth a shot. doesnt take but just a sec to do that trouble shoot.

You've gotta be f'n kidding me. I thought about switching them around, but I checked the wire colors instead.
I switched them front to back, back to front on each side like you suggested and it fired right up
Damn, I was looking at the factory harness which has:
Cyl 2/7 Red wire
Cyl 4/5 Green wire
Cyl 6/3 Blue wire
Cyl 8/1 Purple wire
The new harness, the colors are opposite direction...
Oh well, today's my turn to wear the dunce cap.
Thanks for helping out

So far I've only fired it up and washed it for a car show tomorrow. But this was the last planned upgrade before getting it back to the local track. Hopefully, I can turn it up now. I'm pretty psyched, it's been 7 years since its been race ready!

Jake if your going to keep them on the valve cover you can resuse the stock ls1 brackets with the 585 coil. I ran a few years like that just fine before I just relocated them down to the frame this winter.

I'm not sure what I'd do. I thought about running some ProForm valve covers to clean things up a little and the D281 coils, but I don't think they are much of an upgrade.
I've also thought about the Pantera coils. But for now, I think the stock coils will work with lower boost. It's when I turn it up that I may want to increase the gap and run a more powerful coil.

I'm using the Proform LS covers myself, but Proform doesn't make mounts for the D585's to work with their rails so I made a set myself. Round 1 pointed out some flaws, but they're good enough until I can make a revised set.
Easy to make to fit Proform bolt points, 14" long, 2.5" flat until the bend (45 degrees", and then just the fingers to the coil mounting holes.

They are supposed to be rated among the highest spark energy delivered for common coil packs. Running forced induction, I figured I'd do it once and be done. I won't know how well they actually perform until I can get the car back down to the tuners to start leaning on it.
