Default New setup has me worried

Hey everyone I have some concerns bout my new setup I I'll start with the the list of parts then go over the problems.

The motor is a 2003 5.3l truck motor stock bore and stroke new rings and bearings everywhere makes 40psi oil pressure at idle
Can I just switched from the stock 5.3 to a tick performance stage 1 turbo cam 605 ish lift intake 590 ish lift exhaust. I can't remember what the duration is.
Heads I just switched from stock 5.3 to 317 heads ported with pac1219 valve springs gt45 ebay turbo and was running open down pipe now have full 3" exhaust with flowmaster 40. Trans is a th350 full manual trans brake.

Ok so the problem I'm having is I took it to the gas station a mile down the road for a feal up run after everything was done and when I give the motor any load it sounds like a diesel. I haven't taken it to the tuner yet but it does have a tune from last year with the turbo and stock heads and cam. Can someone please tell me that that is the reason it sounds like a beat up Cummins and it will most likely go away with the new tune.

I'm at work ATM but at idle it runs great and with no load I here no detonation no piston slap knocks or anything as soon as you put it in gear it sounds like a old Detroit diesel I was just hoping someone could tell me this is just lack of fuel and will go away when I get it tuned

Could be way rich-when you change anything with FI it runs in a diff spot in the fuel window, and needs a tune, providing its ok mech., like proper lifter preload.
Oh, and get it tuned, lol

Isn't a 5.3 with 317 heads crap low compression like 8:1?

You'd do well to quit running it. It's probably self destructing.

ya i know i havent started it since i hurd the noises its making i have an adjustable pushrod and i'll pull the valve covers off after work tomorrow and double check the length the cam grinder said the stock length pushrods will work but i'm new to the ls game this is my first build. i may need to get a set that are 7.475 i'm really hoping its something simple like that. i was hoping someone could tell me how to tell the difference between valvetrain noise and detonation.

plaining on running high boost on pump gas lower compression helps control detonation.

Look at engine data first. Knock, Timing, and Lambda to start. If its not in a reasonable range then investigate the tune to see what its doing. Grab some datalogs of when its happening and post it up. A bigger cam at the lower rpms will need a lot less fuel because it doesnt breath well down there and the opposite is needed as rpm's increase. If you havent touched the tune after the cam and head swap I would investigate that avenue first as it should be the easiest to grab some data and review. If you are not familiar with troubleshooting the tune based on the data, then post it up here for some of us to review
