1079 rwhp SBE 5.3 706 heads
Took my buddies 67 Chevelle down to LS Fest West Las Vegas this year. He threw in a 184,000 mile gen IV iron block 5.3 with 706 heads while have his forged 6.0 rebuilt. This billet S485 is a beast of a turbo. 22 Psi the car ran 8.9's @ 156 mph all weekend @ 3700lbs. 22 PSI made 930 rwhp.
Turned it up to 27 psi and it made this

How do these engines take that kind of abuse ? Hypo pistons are only safe to 475 HP....really? well in an LS they will hold 3 times that... powdered metal rods might hold 500..... NO, not in an old truck motor LS ! More like 1200 FWHP........Special machining is def required though, you know , to have the tolerances to withstand 4 digit HP abuse, right ? No, just sand the rust off the rings and dingleberry the bore, if the hood was torn off the donor truck and it got rained in when it was totaled. really?! LOL....Gotta love being a Chevy fan these days.

SBE usually means stock rods, crank and pistons if you've been on the forums for a while. It has arp head studs, ls2 timing chain, stock rod bolts, ls9 gaskets, holley hi ram, chiseled performance 2000hp a2w intercooler (beast 110 iat with 100 degree ambient day) .025 top .028 bottom gapped stock rings, 237/239 115 huc lobe cam from his built 6.0 that spun a bearing last year and ls7 lifters. Holley Dominator with Holleys 160lb injectors. It's also on e85 (e70ish i think). He shifted all weekend around 7500 rpm but I think the dyno peaked around 6500 ish, hard to say with no tach signal hook up.
His car last year on 25 psi with the forged 6.0 and cast s488 ran 8.6 @ 159 mph on 26ish psi. So it goes to show how beast the s485 is making the same or more hp with this lil 5.3.
