Downpipe Pic... this wont bleed boost!?

Default Downpipe Pic... this wont bleed boost!?

Rather than steeling Mike and Steve's thread any further...heres a pic of my turbo/downpipe...the car wont make less then 20lbs boost at 55 % throttle and under 5k rpm on the rollors....note the WG location. Even with the WG off, 20 lbs! Is this design just not gonna work??? It did for A-Dee-O and Noyzee, with a few less cubes and slightly smaller turbos... Before I have the kit modified and have the WG turbe relocated to before the turbo, I wouldnt mine getting input.

sounds like you need to tap into the log before the exhaust hits the turbo.
dang packaging issues.

That should work if the flange lines up with the hole in the turbo housing. You can enlarge/ port the turbo housing to enhance flow to the gate. If you run it with gates removed it should make less than 5 psi, and only at high rpm.

It should just be springs or faulty boost controler.

Wish it was that easy Brad... we first removed the boost controller to check that, then the WG springs were removed and valves were fully open...no dice so then we removed the waste gates completely...still no dice.
I hope we all can somehow learn from this. It appears, from talking with folks in the know (Innovative, Kurt, John Craig and Chris), that the turbos need to be ported and opened up big time where the hole leads from the housing to the waste gate pipe at the flange.
A better fix would probably be to run a pipe from the manifold to the wg, but that brings on new issues as the manifold and down pipe would now be attached and that creates more stiffness, but creates challenges of its own, least of which is routing it in limited space and nice custom welding.
APE has the car still and at the moment (and I am hoping these steps are already in motion )I beleive they are going to complete / manage the final stages of this and get it back on the rollers and onto the street fineally. They must be busy campers as the phone does not get answered lately.

I've been told by Innovative that internal gates tend to have boost control problems, but yours sounds really extreme.

What a/r are the exhaust housings?

This was Toms Izzo's Kit so I'm sure you have held it in your hands. The A/R is small --- .63
