lol I gapped the **** out of my rings in my ly6. It smokes a little after a pull but I think that's due to inadequate crankcase ventilation which I plan to fix soon.

Is it not as much a case of tigging the two parts of those 2 piece rings together, than simply tigging one part to the crank ?

The reluctor is 1 piece, it's spot welded to itself from the factory. You just gotta tig it tonthe crank. Don't use any rod, just puddle it front the two parts

Yes, and it's those spot welds holding the 2 pieces together that can also fail.

It's the reason why some places make a billet 1 piece wheel, the 2 piece design is just crap.

Better indeed yes.

here is a 1 piece example, just for reference. Although unless pushing 6500, 7k+ most dont have too many issues anyway

This is probably a silly question, but will/can tack weld(s) throw off the cranks balance? Just curious is all
Build is coming along nicely

Shouldn't, I didn't add any filler rod. I just melted the two components together.

Also it's close to the crank centerline

The weight of any weld, would probably be less than the weight of any oil hanging around the crank during rotation anyway ?
