anyone using the autometer electric boost guage?
Do any of you guys have the new electric boost guage with max boost recall button and warning light on it. I like the idea of being able to recall the max boost. I am just wondering if it suffers any lag like I have read about with other electric boost guages.

I ran the Auto meter pro-comp liquid filled mechanical gauge with the recall kit add on kit in another car... It was sweet...
Gauge Number 5404

I have the electric gage in my pick up truck, it works great. I use the recall after every run. The overboost light is small, but I can still see it in the daylight. Nicest boost gage I have ever used.

Depending on your boost level it should be OK...
I did'nt care about vaccum and the 15psi limit on that gauge was too low for that car..
I prefer mechanical gauges for everything except fuel pressure and temperature.
Temp sender systems have advanced to match or exceed the accuracy and dependability of a mechanical gauge system. Fuel pressure is best done via an electronic gauge since it is more economical than a mechanical gauge with a glycol isololator so no fuel lines go past the firewall... If you don't mind a hood mount gauge which is best done with a cowl induction hood then I'd go mechanical..
I still have it.. It may go on a LSX engine or a LTX... The car has a LT1 now and is NA.... New project... I'm thinking air to water for an IC... Maybe even integrated into an intake plenum on top of a TPIS intake if I stay LT1.... If I go LS I'm not sure yet.... Maybe I'll just put it in the bay or weld a sheet metal manifold....
Autometer makes good stuff but the pro-comp stuff is built like a s* brick house as compared to the sport comp and phantom series gauges.

The 5776 uses a stepper motor movement and a 2 bar GM map sensor plus a microprocessor. Cool thing is it calibrates itself everytime you turn on the key and i believe it even adjusts itself for big changes in baromteric pressure just like these cars use the map as a baro sensor at startup. I have seen mechanical boost gauges that are pretty far off so nothing is perfect. Dont knock it until you try one, they are nice gauges and arent just a simple resistive sender across a meter movement.
PS, I prefer mechanical temp gauges - dont have to turn the key on to read them

With the stepper drive it does'nt need to be liquid filled for stabiity... Any mech gauge withou the liquid filling is a pos....

I own it and love it. Well worth the extra money. This is one thing that I no longer need to pay attention to when running. Just the FP gauge and the road Mine performs excellently!

none of them are liquid filled, no need since they are stepper motors and the needles dont bounce with vibration. The ultra light version is 30psi only I think and the phantom is 0-15 or 0-30psi.
If any sponsor sells autometer they can get them, tbyrne does and so do others I'm sure.

These gauges rock. I have one and the recall function is cool, wonderin' bout belt slippage, check the recall. I love it. It reacts as fast as friends mech. gauge. And the warning light is pretty cool, I always see it out of the corner of my eye and know when I'm boosting the max!
