Default Switch from NA to turbo

Hey all,

I have reached my NA goal of 450whp and am now leaning toward a turbo. My question is: How much of my current build will I have to change in order to accommodate a turbo? Current CR is 11.5:1 running E85.

I would say a little more info is needed.... but from what I have been through this year I can atleast say this.... if it's a stock motor everyone runs stock ring gaps and just throws a turbo on.... I had my engine rebuilt specifically for na and decided to go turbo.... if I would have taken a few days, pulled the motor, and opened up the ring gaps it would still be living.... I didn't and it cost me a bottom end when ringland #1 lifted .... if it's going to be turbo take a few small precautions so it will live IMO

Definitely more info needed, but based on what you've said, you could probably run a turbo now...just really low psi

Already on E85? and using evans tuning so you could throw boost at it now with an intercooled setup and be fine to 10psi or less... anymore and you might wanna gap rings etc freshen bottom end

No fricken way. A stock ls1 bottom like to implode at 500-550rwhp. Look at the boost reliabilty sticky. So you'd be able to push like 2 psi safely. Compression is already super high and with a na cam your cylinder pressure will be high af. If you want to spend all that money to blow up your engine I've got a bad *** set up for sale. If you really want to go turbo sell the engine you have and build an engine designed for boost.

I would run it as is. Add moderate boost to your setup on E85 with more fuel pump, at least 80 lb injectors, conservative timing and keeping the revs below 6500.

My LS1 is at 11.2~ compression with low boost and its probably making 600 rwhp running out of injector on ethanol blend.

Plenty of SBE LS1's making over 600 rwhp safely

You will need meth injection with straight methanol and real low timing if you want it to live.
