Turbo selection for 408 m6
Turbo selection for 408 m6 Picked up a used huron speed v2 t6 kit for my Trans Am and would like some suggestions on some turbos that would fit my needs.
Forged 408 lq
Stock ls3 heads
Rick crawford ls3 intake
80# ls3 injectors
355lph drop in pump
Pump 93 oct
Cam will be custom ground after turbo selection

This is a street car that does alot of roll racing. This set up will see 8psi to 15psi on the streets. Not too concerned with how much power it puts down but 750-900 would be great.
Ive neen looking at borg warnet s400 units the s475 and s480. Not looking to break the bank on an 1800 turbo if i dont have to. The s475 looks great for $600 from airwerks with the 92mm turbine but im worried my cubes might be a little steep for the 75mm compressor. Im also concerned about which a/r i should go with since im 6 speed and have to build boost every shift. Thoughts? Thanks!

An S475 should easily be able to make 750+ and spool will be fine with a 408 and the right cam. A billet S475 with an 87mm 1.10 T4 made TONS of low end torque on my 5.3 and was within that power range.
Upgrade to the S480 if its a concern. They're not too much more expensive. Cam selection will help a lot with whatever power/spool you're going for.

A good friend of mine runs a PTE 80/96 hybrid in his 408 T56 4th Gen.
He laid down 811 rwhp on 16 lbs. on a very safe tune with low timing.
I'd imagine he could easily top 900 rwhp just adding more timing.
He and I roll race on the street fairly often and the thing is a beast, once he gets into 3rd and 4th he walks all over me lol.

Nice! Went ahead and bought the s480 80/96 1.32ar with standard cover for $950 shipped. Next I need to pick a cam. I wonder how the stage 2 ls3 turbo cam from tick would work?
I'd reach out to Martin Smallwood at Smallwood Racing or John Bewley at LJMS and see what they recommend.
