Where are y'all getting your rings
So where is everyone getting their piston rings? I have a stock ls2 that I'm building for boost but as I was cleaning the rings I noticed one was broken and need to order a new set. Didn't know if anyone had a particular place they were getting them on sale.

I let my local machine assemble my short block so they did the gaps for me.
Here is what they used FYI...

This isn't from an 06 gto. I'm using stock bottom but am hoping to make 700-800 at some point. Would the ones you recommended truckdog be good for that?

Cant use 1.5/1.5/3.0 on stock ls2 pistons, or l76 or lq9. They use a 1.2/1.5/2.5.
We have a std fit ring set with steel top and napier 2nd. std oil. They run $145. They are hastings. You will want to measure them to make sure theyll fit your boost level for gap. Id use the mahle motorsports specs on that if you need it we can get that info also.

I've used this tool for several builds. You'll want to square the rings up perfectly with the adjuster, grind down only one side of each ring. Take your time!!!! this diamond infused file takes off material fairly fast. Very light pressure at first to get a feel. Then, take some 1,000 grit sand paper and de burr the edges. all four sides of the ring.
Take one of your pistons with the top ring installed, flip in upside down and push the newly filed ring down until the piston is sitting perfectly flat on the deck. This will line up the ring perfectly for measuring the Gap. Then use your feeler gauge to measure your gap (install the gap in the 6 o'clock position. It's very easy to do. Decide what size gap you want to go with and get started. Just be careful not to take too much material off. It's easy to do this if you're careless.
Good luck
MAKE SURE TO De BURR EACH RING BEFORE YOUR FINISHED!
