Is this normal? I've had someone say yes and another no. As I'm turning the engine one side would get tight and vise versa. At one point both sides had slack.
Makes me believe my chain slipped, if that's possible with these engines. I remember lining the dots initially, it was off 90*.

I also feel that "Timing.....Crank and Cam." is not very descriptive.
I had a similar problem trying to run my lm7 on the stand and it was the grounds that were the problem

So starter being shimmed wrong won't make it not start. Check and make sure you didn't plug the coil packs backwards bank to bank. So pass plug to driver coil and vice versa. I did that on my 5th generation and it would crank forever and kinda pop from the exhaust but never start.

I'm having same issue Stock 5.3 , never been into it . Started fine in the truck , on the stand it keeps jamming starter got a new starter same issue... got a 4l80 flat flex plate , same issue . After fighting with it for an hour or so unjamming starter with flat head and having a jump box and battery set up ... adding grounds to the engine stand and the engine itself, relocating the "multiple grounds" eyelet for pcm ground directly to battery it fired once but vats is on and it shut off ... still doing same thing now and can't get it to crank just jamms starter ... help
