Default 98mm 403ci

Hey guys

2nd guessing my turbo choice

Engine is 8.9:1
Billet 8ccw 4in crank
Ppm 300m ultra I beams
Wiseco pistons
Rec heads
Stage 4 btr turbo cam 234/239 - .618 115
Ect

My turbo is a 98mm billet wheel
T6 91/102 turbine 1.15 ar

I want it a but laggy so I have room under the curve to putt around like a normal human

I'm hoping this thing fires off around the 4000-4500 rpm

Am I dreaming?

I have 1650cc injectors
Auto 4000ish stall..

I don't want instant boos but I also don't want it to spool at 6000rpm n have 1500rpm of usable boost lol

Cheers gang

Simon

Lots of variables but I bet you aren't too far off. Why do you want to delay spool though? I want my stuff to spool at +/-3000rpms full throttle. If you don't want it to spool just drive around at part throttle. The turbo would have to be pretty undersized to boost at part throttle/low rpm.

Default spool

Hey mate, I want it to have a decent area under boost as a safe zone as I'll be doing alot of highway kms in this thing as I live rural and I want some lazy rpm.

And tbh I enjoy the big hit of a laggy turbo setup.

I'd want a bit bigger AR if it were me, its plenty of cubes so spooling won't be a problem, I'd rather have the top end flow.
I run an S484 with the 1.36AR and 96mm turbine and it spools up just fine on my LS1, I start seeing positive pressure around 3,500 rpm.
If I foot brake it a bit while rolling, it comes on pretty quickly and pretty hard.
I say run it, see how it does, you can always get another turbine housing and swap it over.

It will be perfect for what you’re describing. I had a very similar combo except it was a garret based 88/91 with a 1.08 AR. It was pretty much instant boost so the slightly bigger wheels and AR should nail it, worst case jump it up to a 1.32/.58 housing to slow it down a little.
