Default IAT temp with D1SC / D1X

Anyone running this setup from procharger what is your IAT at idle on warmer day.

Today it was around 90F and my IAT was 117 at idle. This is with a FMIC from procharger. Seems high to me.

That doesn't sound bad to me Mike, as there is no air movement at idle except from the fan. What are the IAT's when your are cruising? Bob

I have not gotten a chance to cruise yet with it. I am trying to sort out my P107 error... not sure why i am getting it as I did not touch the MAP sensor at all. I asked the pros on here as the sensor is stuck at 3hg however I am wondering if maybe a ground is not connected as it doesnt not change at all.

Are you venting to atmosphere when NOT in boost or recirculating using the ATI method? Venting to atmosphere especially at idle prolongs's heat soak. Once you get heat soak it takes a lot of air movement to cool back to atmosphere.

Shoot a temp gun at the intercooler at it starts to heat soak while idling. You will find it warms up pretty quick when the car is not moving. Same for the head unit if you are not venting to atmosphere.

When idling are you using a fan in front of the grille to keep the engine cool or not? My D1SC will kick on the fans and heat soak in a hurry sitting in my garage or even outside when idling when temps are north of 90 here in KS.

It s the big red race valve that is open. At idle you can feel air rushing out of valve.

I have procharger shroud and fan in pulling mode but no shop fan blowing on car.

I drove it a little today (not exceeding 2K rpms) but basically slow moving and temps dropped closer to 105 IAT in 93 degree heat in stop and go.

That's not bad. Recently on a 70ish degree day my FMIC will hear soak to 90ish usually won't go back down to ambeient even when cruising on the highway. Mine will get as hot as 120 when I'm goosing it and I'm seeing 170ish pre FMIC temps (I have a pre and post temp gauge). I will usually see 50*F drop when boosting and a 20*F drop when cruising. Say 120*F coming out of the supercharger and 100-90 pre intake. But my FMIC gets barely any air flow and I also run meth. When the meth kicks on I can see below ambient air temps (80*F on a 90*F day). However this is usually higher than what my engine IAT is reading in the intake bc it has more time to mix in the air. The post IC temp sensor is only like 6" away from the 750ml meth nozzle so I'm sure it's getting wet.

Your IATs are fine since the radiator is radiating heat everywhere. My 87 TA is a bottom feeder and it gets no direct air flow so it's inefficient. That's also why I run the meth to make up for that. Without the FMIC I would see 150-170*F IAT temps in the intake before meth activation. I also tried A2W intercooling which would heat soak to 120*F quickly and basically never move. Even on a cooler day like 70*F the A2W would get hotter than the FMIC.

of course IAT at idle tells you very little and doesn't matter much but on my D1SC with small ECS front mount intercooler I see maybe 10-15* over ambient but it gets worse the longer it sits. at a quick stop I'm seeing not much over ambient. let it sit for an hour in traffic in 100* heat and IATs will get damn hot. with dual meth I see 65* IATs all the time at WOT but I don't trust the IAT sensors with meth since they get saturated with liquid

105* IAT on a 93* day stop and go is pretty good imo.
