Depends on what you have invested engine wise. I don’t see the harm if you run a $500-1000 SBE long block. If I ran a “nice” engine I’d run the real deal. Turbos are a super simple design. With the much improved china machining these days they are getting good at cloning. Aside from less than stellar performance, I don’t see a huge risk. Esp. if you aren’t looking for massive power. The OP’s car is pretty impressive for a 4.8 that’s not leaving hard. 72’s in general are a bit large for a 4.8. I think he’d be into the 8’s easy with a big stall and hard launch.
The BW S480 clone seems to be a proven heavy hitter. Can pick one up for $750 shipped now. I got my calipers out and the exh wheel diameters and profiles are almost exactly the same as a genuine Borg. They really dropped the ball with the S366 clones and those weird clipped wheels IMO. I’m all for someone trying out a set, just wanted to make sure they were aware of the oddball exh wheel.

Yup blow up a shitbox JY motor send all pieces through some real turbos and you'll quickly think otherwise. I think spending anything over $1000 on a turbo is dumb, unless of course you do this for a living or you like to brag online.

Passenger side 72/68 started smoking yesterday... Haven't seen over 15lbs on mine. What a rip!
I had put a $250 bid on the new billet gt35 clones 2 days ago. I figured that meant they wouldn't' accept it so I was talking to Viren today. VS has a 67/65 and a 61/65 for great prices. I was all set to order one when the email came through that they accepted the my $500 offer on the Gt35's. Now I kinda feel bad. You should order the 61/65's and see how they do!

It's been raining non stop by me lately. Every time I've tried to go to the track its gotten rained out. I am planning to go next weekend and turn it up a little more just to see what it'll do.
I change my mind constantly about what to do with the turbos, but at this point anything would be better than these 72s. Been debating going back to a single after this experience, but I think the 61 or 67s would work much better.

Maybe someone here in this thread knows the answer to the question: If I swap out my Rev9 for a Viren 78/75, should the exhaust housing be a straight bolt in swap with my current downpipe setup?

And probably at least close to the same positioning between the t-4 flange and V-band...?
Not that it really makes a difference I suppose. Just have to bite the bullet and do the work if it doesn't fit..

I'd feel more confident that the billet wheel will move extra air more than I would be that the ball bearings will help spool response.
According to some podcast I heard with one of the big turbo guru guys, ball bearings don't improve spool time. The actual big advantage of them is that they can survive moments of insufficient oil flow at launch much better than journal bearings can. Wish I could remember who that dude is.....
Did you happen to contact them yet for their prices on those options?
