Default Looking at Procharger kit, how does this look?

So I found a NIB setup that I may purchase for $5500, shipping would be about $200. I would sell the F1 head unit as it's too much for what I have planned and buy a D1. Looks like I would need all the fuel upgrades and a balancer to start.

Is the 8 rib bracket suitable? I plan on dropping this on my existing setup and running low boost for awhile.

Does everything look pretty complete or do you see anything I would need or would not work with my car. Kit was ordered for a 99 TA so not sure if everything is okay for my 2002.

edit: damn photobucket **** blocking me. Got a link for now, not sure if amazon does 3rd party hosting. double click photo to see the whole thing.

Whew, hand hurts from typing all that crap, but figured it would be easier for you guys.

Send me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy of the installation instructions. There are no big changes that would prevent you from buying this kit. You could go with a 5.25 pulley on the F-1A head unit for now to slow it down to keep the stock bottom end in your engine alive. Bob

What kind of impact does running an F-1A with that big of pulley have on low and midrange boost levels compared to a D1sc or D1x with a pulley that gives the same peak boost level?

In other words on a SBE cam only ls1 at 9 psi peak boost how does the boost come in with an F-1A compared to a D1x?

At 9 psi The D-1SC is going to be more efficient than either the D-1X or the F-1A. If you were going to stay at 9 psi forever, which very few ever do, then the D-1SC would be the way to go. If you think the added power might become addictive, then I would go with an F-1A. The D series have a 4.10/1 gear ratio, while the F series have a 5.40/1 gear ratio, this means you run a much larger pulley on an F Series at the blower which ends up giving much better belt wrap

Well thanks, that's promising. How does the 8 rib bracket that's included hold up vs the aster? And am I correct that I would need a balancer as well?

Also, does the F1 head unit fit just like the D1 or would things need to be moved to fit?

The ProCharger 8 rib bracket will work okay for a stock engine, on a built engine where you would be running at a higher boost level you would need to swap out the bracket assembly.

You do need the 918853 balancer and crank pinning kit.

The F-1A fits right in place of a D-1SC. Thanks. Bob

F1A will make 9-10#'s with the 5.25 pulley

My car last longer than expected and the only internal mod was rod bolts. Still waiting to see what this thing will make on the new motor. I finally ruined my first belt, took about 2 years!

Id like to stay around 650rwhp, dont want to deal with meth either. I know everyone says ill want more. But ive driven in a fair amount of hi HP cars and 650 rwhp is a lot for a pure street car like mine that gets put away for 5 months a year and only driven on nice days. Should be plenty for me.

The D1 probably makes more sense then/

But if this is on a stock engine for that car....if you're using pump fuel, you're still into a high risk area at that level.

Better fuel will help, meth will help.
