put 317s on do I need retune? had the stock LS1 running 8 pounds and just recently put in springs, pushrods, trunion upgrade, 317 heads, ls9 gaskets, and studs. Just got it fired up last night and its running pretty rough. the 317s obviously changed the compression and some flow. Question is do I need a retune or can I simply bump the fuel pressure up. Had been running lower fuel pressures roughly 48-50psi.
at start up seemed to want to die, after I gave it some gas for a bit it picked up the rpms and was idling fine. after I pulled it back in the garage it seemed to want to die again as I let off the gas.

Of course you will have to tune it 
When you tried to run it without a new tune it showed you it was pretty upset. Secondly now that you have dropped compression with 317 heads you will want to retune it because I'm assuming you dropped compression so that you could up the boost.
