2-1

My clutch was dragging and the trans was still stock and had enough. It was my second pass on the new L92 at the time as well. I disabled the affected cyls and limped it home. Tore it open that night, diagnosed it, and couldnt look at it for another 3 months. Fresh trans, new clutch, new valves and still going on that set up now. It keeps eating diffs though, time for driver to grow up maybe

Vid of the passes sure would be nice to see

I see Matt (LS1_Chevelle) is already on it but I can help field some questions too. We are super excited about how this project turned out.

Stock rockers with comp trunnion upgrade

neither, Holley crank trigger, thats how the big combo was setup so we stuck with it.

Good lord that’s awesome! Congrats!

So, maybe the truck weighs 2600ish? Could be less. Maybe more...
40psi at 8000+ rpm on 4 bolt heads... just way too cool.

Fng Lol, I didn't even look at the other side at first. LMFAO, "in the right lane was meaning it". Wonder what class that was in where 7 and 5 second cars go head to head. I wonder if they'd let my car in there as well.

We entered promod.... LOL qualified 22nd with a 7.26. Carl Stevens was in the other lane in Jim Bell's promod and went 5.79.

The truck was setup for outlaw 10.5 but they were only going 1/8 mile and we wouldn't have been able to get 1/4 times so we brought our butter knife into promod.

We pulled the engine apart last week and filmed it.

Verdict in, no rods bent, The drivers side bank kissed a valve on every hole which is weird, haha, aside from that, the engine looked happy!

We've done that a couple times too. Winked em all on one build but it ran fine, never gave us any indication there was a problem. XE/XER lobes with duals. Im on the newer softer lobes now, havent done that since even with the super high RPM passes.

You guys replacing the winked pistons or letting it ride?

What are the super stable symmetrical lobes being used these days? From standard companies like COMP. At one time I was told the HUC intake and the “Extreme RPM exhaust” were about as tame as they came. Now I hear there are other more stable options... (Marine lobes were mentioned, but no specifics.)

HUC is marine. I dont care for them, some like em but I dont. That wurrrrrr sound and boring behavior. I really like the XE lobes although they winked they are heaps of fun and snappy as all hell. My current driver runs EPS lobes which are similar to LSL although LXL is another tamer lobe. Running higher lift and taming the initial lift off the base and easing the drop are what make them smoother. Not quite as snappy as the XE mind you and a little more 'boring' for lack of a better word but in my experience I buzz them to hell and back without issue. I did spec out an LSL/LXL cam for a 6.0L a while back and lost touch with the guy although initially he loved it. Theres a couple others out there, i havent been that active with engine work the past couple years, life gets busy. Only did one engine this year and we used the budget 216/220 Trick Flow for a 5.3 sbe deal.

Apologies for hijack

Righto, thanks. I get the marine stuff isn’t “performance” I was just wanting the laziest most stable lobe out there for street cars running crappo factory valve trains and wanting to push "big RPM" with a small amount of reliability.

Guessing it’s semi relevant with all these SBE guys buzzing 8300+ on the factory stuff anyway.

The elgin cams have super soft lobes, a 220* @.050 lobe will be 292* advertised, when a BTR cam will be 270* advertised on a 222* @.050 lobe

Quick Reply: Stock(ish) bottom end 5.3 goes 7.16 @ 190.
