Bummed...Turbo Help Needed!
Now my dillema:
I am currently having a 429 Darton Long Block built. The T76, while rated at 1,100fwhp, wont fit the bill for a big cube motor, due to the "small" turbine and T4 flange. It was recommended that I move up to a T88 for better exhaust flow. After seeing the T88 mid frame turbine housing, I see why. I test fit the turbine housing (thanks Jose) and it fit. Since the T88 and T76 use pretty much the same compressor housing, I was all set and ready to pull the trigger, and order the unit...well not so fast!!! I started thinking (pretty dangerous) and the thought occurred to me that the taller turbine would relocated the centersection and compressor upwards by some amount and the length of the unit would also change the position (forward) of the compressor housing. I ordered a T88 mockup unit form Precision and after recieving it today...I am sorry to say that it won't fit. There is no way, no how (well not w/o putting some big "bubble" in the front passener side of the hood..not).
Is there a turbo that would use the GTS center housing and compressor (well similiar in size and flow). It would have to be the same length and height as the T76 gts unit. I would be willing to change flanges if I can find a unit that will provide the flow that I need. I want to run a 429 at 10 - 12 pounds of boost.
