Well I was going to order my FTi custom grind cam, springs and a ptc billet single disk. A good friend is practically begging me to do a triple disk so I can lock it wot. I suppose I'm going to try it, and save the cam for down the road. I've ran ptc in the iroc and nova. But they don't seem to like wot lockup, so I'm considering circle d and yank.

Single discs don't like to be locked under full power. Jake's would be another good option too.

Yea I really like Jakes. I'm just nervous to use a converter, I just can't find much out there as far as results with his converters.

Didn't Denmah use one in his truck at one point? I have a D3 brake and several other hard parts from Jake's, and they seem like good pieces.

I have a single disc PTC in my 80e, but I don't lock it under power. I think if the converter is selected properly the lockup isn't really needed. It isn't nice on SBE's to lock them under full power either.

See that's what I've heard also, but every time you see it brought up you get 1-2 people saying that, and 20 people saying they picked up 10mph etc etc. Friend of mine posted on sloppy about it and most people were screaming get the triple disk, I love Sloppy and matts work, but the member seem to be terrible band wagoners and just go with the flow of what someone else said or thinks. This is a big, big investment for me and I cannot afford to do it twice.

I would love to just do a single and then I could do cam and springs at the same time. But if triple is the way to go, I'll do that and a cam later.

I understand it's a big investment and not having to do it twice. I think if you look at some of the fast cars that run an 80e do away with the lockup all together and use a TH400 style converter. I'm thinking of Nathan Shaw with his Nova that runs in the 7's w/ an 80e and he doesn't have lockup at all. When I ordered mine Dusty (PTC)(he doesn't work directly for PTC) told me that choosing a lockup 80e converter really limits the flexibility of what they can do with it (loose or tight).

Call the manufacturers you listed and talk to each one.

Yea that's exactly what dusty told me also, it's difficult to make a decision when one company is totally against it and another says it's the way to go. The one thing I do see a lot is, people say the cars pick up big mph, but they almost never seem to gain ET.

I've got emails out to yank, circle d and jakes. I've spoke with dusty a bunch on this and he doesn't recommend lockup

When a car at Nathan's weight goes in the 7's w/o lockup, it's hard to argue that you need lockup!

My car picked up 1 mph locking it in third running the 1/4. I never got the chance to run the 1/4 with my R&R Racing 9.5" single disc, but it picked up quite a bit in the 1/8th over the Circle-D I had. If I keep my 80E for this year it's going to get a PTC non-lock for sure.

Well I think I'll just do the single disk and then my cam and springs then. This is far from a Max effort setup, just a fun daily driver.

Well jakes quoted me $1000 shipped for the triple disk. I think I'll go that route, that's $300 cheaper than anyone else, and $250nmore than the single disk. Since the trans will be out, I might as well do jakes $250 diy trans brake at the same time. I'll wait on the cam till summer I think.

Have you thought about sending the stock cam to get reground? I think its like $100 if your tight on the budget. Cool build BTW love the low budget stuff.

Hmm, never considered that? How can they grind me a cam that's bigger than factory, using a stock core?

Thank you!!

Mounted my 2 step box, ran my solenoid wires and did all my plumbing to my dome side of the gates for the boost controller, just need to run my compressed air source feed to the trunk and install my compressor and tank. Got my Viking DA rear shocks installed. Was a tough battle not to take it for a drive today. But it needs more work before I'm happy enough to do that.

Also shimmed my gates and installed my IAT sensor in the pipe up by the intercooler. I'm glad I took the loom apart to extend the wires, found a broken wire for the tps.

I messaged a buddy that has a ported lightning to see if we could get some pulls in a few weeks, but his truck is still apart. Sad
