If they warp, just grind the male part off then grind/file as necessary.

I picked up some collector gaskets and will try that first. If that doesn’t do the trick copper rtv will be next. And if all else fails I might try those flanges linked above. Will keep y’all updated

You might as well just try the collector gaskets and rtv at the same time. It won't hurt a thing.

One thing that messes them up is they are so short so when you start welding it is right next to the sealing surface. Hard to keep the heat out of them but weld a little at a time and take a break. It also helps a little if you can have them clamped together while welding, although it can make it difficult depending on how the hot side is setup.

They were welded on the bench. I didn’t do that part. The guy that welded them for me said he did that. Said he went a little at a time and they were clamped together when he did it.

Lol they will regardless...

I don't give a **** who welds it or how.

If you pull a file across it the full flange face is not perfectly flat

You can make a holy fcking mess out of one if you don't follow correct procedure, but it is gonna move some regardless

Any sealing flange should be surfaced after welding

Ive used the pre built male/female vbands and i dont like them. If they are in a hard place to get to they can be a pain to align. I have always had good luck with letting the exhaust pipe stick out of one vband as a male side. This works great! Easy to put together, stays together, and usually seals up really good. If it doesnt seal add a bead of copper rtv. Done! Never have to worry about them again.

If you weld them fully clamped together, then you shouldn’t have a problem and not need to grind). Don’t unclamp until they have cooled. Buy one extra clamp and 1 extra female flange so you can weld the pipes/manifolds on a work bench.

Well guys the problem has been solved. I was able to make some copper gaskets and use copper rtv with them as suggested above. No more vband leaks! Thanks for all of your help.
