I think one of the biggest problems with making any generalization about heat soak issues with positive displacement blower cars is that it seems like the vast majority of guys running them are pushing blowers that are too small way out of their efficiency level. I mean the blowers coming out on many of these factory cars are tiny, and even as far as aftermarket goes, the most you typically see on vetted/camaros are 2.9's because of clearance issues. I've seen countless guys on here and other forums making well over 750hp with 2.9 whipplesnwhen a 3.3 or 4.0 probably would have been far more efficient at those levels. I think that's definitely an argument to be had for turbos, if you have a car where the blower clearance may be an issue like an F or Y body. Unfortunately, I really haven't even seen enough 3.3 and 4.0 p/d blower builds to say for sure whether or not heat soak is still a problem on higher hp builds.

Some great posts about turbos up there! I'm looking forward to seeing if we have any larger displacement p/d blower guys that can chime in. I do think the adjustability of the powerband and ability to run a numerically low gear are big pluses in the turbo box, along with peak power levels. I think if I were looking for over 1000hp, turbo would be the way to go for sure as I think the efficiency of the turbo is really going to make a pretty substantial difference at those power levels. I'd still love to compare, head to head, on similarly built engines, an APPROPRIATELY sized blower like a 4.0 to a large single or twin turbo setup as far as drivability, power below the curve and 1/4 mile times go. Someone donate me 30k so I can begin testing. :-D

I have a 93 fbody and its going to be getting an LS9 supercharger on top of a (Wiseco boostline) forged 6.2 and leaning towards a stage 3 pd BTR cam. I track the car (road course) and do not qtr mile it. Overall, a hp# isn't my goal- just having something pretty unique that no one else has that will put a sh!!t eating grin on my face every time I'm behind the wheel is what I'm after. Its going to be able to be daily driven when the WI summer weather is favorable and I'd like to be able to long haul Power Tours with it too.

I origionally choose an LSA blower over turbo because of its linear power/tq vs the other setup. I choose an LSA blower over other superchargers well ...frankly, because, very few fbodies have them. With a solid & well thought out cooling system I'm not worried about overheating on the street or at the track. Trans for me will be a build 6L80 with paddleshift. Like the others here- big brakes and very good aftermarket suspension.
