Default Small truck cross over using cast manifold.

Hello,
just working on my turbo build. A 2005 gmc canyon with a 6.0 ltr motor. I am tight for space so I thought using a cast manifold flipped over might be the ticket. I never thought about connecting the cross over.
attached are some pics of my cast manifold. With me running a 2.25 pipe into the bottom of the number 8 exhaust port.....what are some concerns or issues I have doing the turbo manifold this way.
Any constructive comments or suggestions would be great.
Thanks Ryan Not welded in place. Just sitting on the bench.
Showing the cut out portion for the cross over and the turned up elbow for the turbo.

It will probably work but your exhaust will be flowing backwards.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You could run smaller than 2 1/4 pipe on the cross over since you'll be necking it down into the single runner on the "receiving" side. Might save more space.

Not ideal for big big power but I have seen way worse plumbing scenarios make big power. I wouldn't hesitate to do it like you are for a solid 600whp DD truck. Remember its under pressure and very hot so it has a lot of energy and moves easily.

Keep on going, looks good man. I would run 2.125 or 2.25 for the cross over if you can fit it.

I mean I guess it's already hacked up so you've done the hard parts. I wouldnt have run it like that though...Not only is it more work, but it won't work as well as a divided 2" setup.

Just merge the factory collector down to 2" and run a 2" pipe all the way to the turbo flange. Use a divided T4 and run the other bank in 2" as well.

Use a cheapie 38mm ebay gate on each side. Makes for an easy cheap install with great response and boost control.

The truck is now done. Have a good solid base tune in it now and it's a rocket ship even at 8-10lbs of boost.

Doesn’t look to bad, where did you put the wastegate and how is the plug access on the passenger side?

4eyedturd the waste gate is in the cross over tube. Just below the factory manifold on the drivers side.
not sure what plug you are referring to. The bung you see on the down pipe is for my afr sensor. My o2 sensors are both in their factory positions.

How is getting to the passenger side spark plugs? Wires close to the manifold?

I covered the wires in the typical spkplug wire wrap where they come close to the manifold. Numbers 24and 6 are no issue. Number 8 is a bit of a dog. Mind you plug and wires on my cousins 69 Camaro with a small block and headers were just as bad. Hahha

I laugh so much at this " I am tight for space ". When you can mount a big *** turbo where you have it at, that statement doesn't work. You did a nice job with it though!

I guess it's not considered tight for some..but I have about 1/4" clearance under the hood to the top of the turbo, and getting the three inch dump out of the engine bay and the 2.25inch cross over as well as oil drian and AC and heater hoses all routed as well as utilizing the CAI.....things felt pretty tight at times. Lots of measuring once, twice three times cutting once.
all in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
