Any stage 2 or maybe 3 turbo cam from one of the common guys (ljms, tick or btr) would be best in my opinion. You dont wanna go crazy with the cam. Atleast that is my opinion.

Not an apples to apples comparison just my opinion. No disrespect to anyones views here. Just throwing out my experience.
Thanks for the info. And every set up is different and they all make different powers with similar and different combos. First time boosting so not too familiar with this stuff.

Ok can you tell me why? I have ran nitrous and na never boost. And I’m sorry but I love that thing to chop I know it may sound stupid but I like choppy ldle I’m cuerrently running the comp 233/239 @50 113 lsa cam for my nitrous motor wanted something g similar or bigger

I have a buddy running a big na Cam in his but only putting down 700. I’d like for the cam be more efficient on boost but still have a nice chop.

What can I hurt going such big of cam like the stage 4 btr local shop recomended the stage 4

I had the tick stage 2 and it had a nice chop. Going with to much overlap causes backpressure issues. Even with the 96mm turbine in the s480 i wouldnt go bigger then a stage 2 but guys get away with a stage 3. My stage 3 that i have currently has 6 degrees of overlap and was speced for twin 75mm turbines. When i ran a single s480 96mm t4 tick recommended the stage 2 turbo cam. Honestly i believe most chop you hear on intagram or youtube is more tune related. I can make a stock cam chop with idle correction timing adjustments. I can also make the.tick stage 2 turbo cam sound nearly stock after alot of idle airflow adjusting. Chop is tune related until you go really big cam in my opinion.

You're rather mis-informed.

They're both **** but either will hold boost pressure....certainly no trouble for either for only 700hp though.

Obviously they're different...but both largely junk, although at least the Sniper will see more power over 6500rpm if you'll be using that.

But they can look nice.

big cams can lose power, spool slower and offer a narrower power band so to speak.

They can turn a great powerful car with a wide spread of car into a piece of ****. Now obviously you have the fact it's a large V8 to compensate, but the effects are still there.

Big cams have nothing to offer a street car.

Like jordoza said that chop is more of and idle tunning issue. I’ve been looking in to the btr stage 2 and 3 i don’t want something sluggish. Id want something to spool me up quick and get me going. I’m also not sure what merge piping to run with the truck manifolds. I have been doing reading and it looks like you don’t need more than 2.25 my max power goal 1100. And about 700 detuned..

What are you guys suggestions on the cam? Something with a nice power curve and suitable for my power level. I was thinking of giving btr a call and tell them my setup see what they come up with.

Getting a custom cam speced is always your best option. I say iom running a stage 3 but its really not the off the shelf stage 3 its a custom speced cam. It makes a world of difference. I have honestly done it wrong twice before i called and had a speced cam. I did the way to big na cam and it sucked. Spooled like crap and was lazy as hell. Then i did the ls9 cam and it was ok but never did make the power i expected and it didnt spool for **** either. So i called tick and got the stage 2 and it absolutely was night and day difference. Spooled 6 to 700 rpm sooner and wasnt lazy out of boost. I will never try the holy grail factory cam or the it will work ok cam again. Get the right cam for your intended use speced by someone who knows what they are talking about and you wont be disappointed.

I was looking for a good off shelf that would work and be efficient with my set up without paying the extra cash of the custom grind.

Ok which s480 do you have, also any odea on head flow. Im pretty sure the tick stage 2 turbo cam would do you good but i dont wanna seem like a tick nut swinger so any stage 2 should work from ljms, tick or btr. They are all close to the same. Tick seems to add a little more lift to the brew but i dont think its helpful unless you got ported heads.

With all the turbo cams id err on the small side then go to big. The advane ground into the cam makes the biggest difference in spool time from what ive learned. Thats what they mean by 115 +5. The plus 5 is the advance ground into the cam. It helps spool the turbo faster.

That would make more sense than an inexperienced choice, and that doesnt mean you need a custom cam. There a undoubtedly hundreds of cams available already that will fit your needs.

its an lq4 with 243 hand ported heads by reputable local shop milled 10 thousands . i honestly don't know the flow rate. the s480 is my guess of what the turbo is by looking up the numbers on the cold side 060 and says Borgwarner . its an 80mm but the exhaust housing was changed from t6 to t4 supposedly for quicker spool. i cant seem to get any info on sizing. this thing was on my boys turbo car with the na cam in it. that explains why he wasn't able to spool it up quickly. he now has a precision ball bearing that spools on the dime tho.

Pull the turbine housing off and measure the turbine wheel. Turbine wheel diameter will derectly effect which cam will be best for you.

The s480 can have 4 different turbine wheels all the way from a 83x75 to the 96mm.
