Default Turbo recommendation

Hi all, very new to the forced induction world so just trying to read and soak up as much info as possible. I've recently acquired a gen 4 aluminum 5.3. This is a SBE motor. Has 799 heads that I'll be sending off for valve and spring job. I plan to tear it town re ring it and have the block checked, new cam bearings, main bearings and gap the rings accordingly. My question and where I'm needing the most guidance is in turbo selection. I've here good things on BG, VS, obviously Precision just want to hear suggestions from guys with personal experience.as well on a preferred set up. Little about the current set up

1979 Camaro
Street/strip full interior car
3660 lbs
Powe glide
10 bolt w/4.11 (plan to go to a 3.73 or 3.55)
Lsx 454
Makes 500 to the tire N/a
High 10s in 1/4 mile
Thank you for any insight you can provide as well as do's and don'ts. Ultimate power goal is 8-900 hp and mid 9s would be ideal.

Hello, I'm about to start a 5.3 turbo project so I'm new to forced induction as well. Mine's a 2006 GMC Sierra. It sees a few miles a week street time, back anf forth to work, about 22 miles round trip 5 days a week. I want to make a streetable sleeper out of it. At 4700 lbs., I'd be cool with high 10s. Nick@Brian Tooley recommended a twin turbo stage 1 cam and an s475 BW. He said that even though it's a titled as a twin turbo cam it's still works for multiple purposes. Your car is a lot lighter than my truck, so getting into the 9s for you shouldn't be that difficult.

Why not boost the 454?

I've only found one shop that has done it successfully on a standard deck block. Can't seem to get any info from really anyone other then don't do it because cylinder wall weakness and head gasket material will be very thin between cylinders. One shop told me it will be good to about 6 lbs.

Don't know your budget but if it permits, I'd go with forged rods and pistons to be on the safe side. Stock 5.3 block and crank should be good for 1000+ as long as the tune is right.
