LSA with A/C??

LSA with A/C?? Have an '02 SS with the LSA blower swap. Bought the car already built 2 years to save me time and money. The car didn't come with a/c which I didn't mind at the time but after driving for a few hours here in south Texas the other morning I'm regretting it. I asked the previous owner about the a/c and he said when the a/c was there he had to add an air pump for the ac to work cause the blower would pull all the vacuum that the a/c needed to work. Before the pump it would only blow for a few seconds then stop working. Any ideas on what he could be referring to?? And if so could yall provide links and pics to help me in this situation....thanks in advance

Not sure on the vacuum for the heat. The defroster still works and the floor heat as well. When I first got the car it had a bad squeal while driving. Replaced the tensioner, idle pulley, and the belt. Come to find out the wrong catch can was installed. The throttle body vacuum line was capped instead of being routed to the back driver side valve cover. Ordered a mighty mouse can and the problem was solved. Wonder if this could have been why the ac didn't originally work.
